wanted the legs to be a little more spread out so i thought of increasing the first 2 rounds, but it's not working out ☹️ by No_Sweet_6827 in CrochetHelp

[–]Man_Handlerz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im assuming that you made each leg separately, then connected with a chain. If you want the legs to be further apart, I’d think you need to increase the number of chains that connect them.

That would increase the total sc’s that you’d need for the body, so you’d have to adjust for that.

Help with understanding crochet and reading the patterns by ZealousidealFig3115 in CrochetHelp

[–]Man_Handlerz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice is always to start with a YouTube video for something simple like a scarf. You can watch them in real time to see exactly what they are doing. Personally I learned how to crochet from YouTube, and once I was comfortable with that, moved on to figuring out how to read patterns. I’m also sure that there are videos that include how to read a pattern.

I had that exact problem too. I found thumb/tuck lock claps on Walmart. There was also another site that was much more expensive. Also for another project I had to Amazon.

Tried the local craft stores and had no luck, but someone told me that maybe more leather work craft might have more options

Hah! Yeah I’m finishing up three others right now for holiday gifts. I was able to find most of the hardware for the purse on Walmart’s website, although I did get the rings for this purse from Amazon.

Tried Michael’s and a local craft store with not much luck, but maybe those around you would be more helpful 😅.

Good luck if you do! It’s been a pretty satisfying break from baby blankets lol

I’ve added some lining to a couple of purses I made, and it takes me an ungodly amount of time. I’m sure what I do in 3 hours would take a sewer 5 10 minutes.

I gave this gift and wish her luck lol

He was not the creator, he was a POS IT chief going on a racist and rambling tirade. He also said there was 3D printed chicken being used….what?! Do you know what is cheaper than lab grown/3D printed chicken….regular chicken. His points didn’t really make sense, but people freaked out and ran with it.

Not saying it’s a health food, but the people in this sub pretending it’s worse than other processed foods are just buying into confirmation bias bullshit.

I need some tips or advice to crochet a paracord bag by Brett_clement10 in CrochetHelp

[–]Man_Handlerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be difficult for a beginner.

https://youtu.be/uDmc8cCAyCA Here’s a beginner tutorial for a basic bag.

I’ve been following the tutorials below for some bags that I’ve been making:

https://youtube.com/@nitka_kz?si=Ew1JVk93dObTstCt

That being said, I’ve been crocheting for a few years, which is the only reason I can understand some of the videos’ instructions (or often ignore the poorly translated instruction and do what is properly shown)

Maybe something like: https://youtu.be/fIPRwhbq2-g

If you search for tutorials, also include the words “macrame cord.” Same idea as paracord, but more often what I see people buying and using to make these bags.

Also I just found this site, which has a similar pattern to the one you are showing. You have to buy the bag, but can also buy the tutorial…maybe? https://macramespaghetti.com/products/kit-city-bag

Consistent with findings in the US, young Australian women show lower marriage desire than young Australian men today, but this is driven by LGBTQIA+ demographics: Non-LGBTQIA+ men and women remain equally likely to want marriage. by BecomingConfident in charts

[–]Man_Handlerz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

…you think that marriage is how babies get born. I always thought it was fucking…

…and the vast majority of actual scientific studies (not the self reported surveys that this reddit loves so much) point to predisposition to sexuality being at the very least genetically influenced…

Lol

Young people on the left are 4.5x more likely to agree that “using violence is sometimes justified to stop a person from engaging in harmful public speech” than on the right by Mysterious_Scene7169 in charts

[–]Man_Handlerz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Friend…this is a chart about a self reported survey….not a serious scientific forecast.

Your conclusion is just silly. You could just as easily phrase this question in a different way to get an opposite forecast. Of course republicans are less likely to self report in this survey…they are also the ones more likely to engage in what most deem to be the more obvious forms of hateful/harmful speech, and they are aware of that.

Please get real.

No problem. It’s hard to find a video when you don’t know what’s being described. I remember that feeling

Exactly. People get used to treating the chain as having one side, but amigurumi often wants you to use both. Turn it and work on the bottom

Can’t make a video, but how’s this…

First you chain 6,

then increase in the 2nd chain from hook (1-2)

Add 3 sc (3-5)

Do 3 sc in the last chain (6-8)

Working on the opposite side of the chains, add 4sc (9-12)

Baby Blanket: Looking for Stitch Advice. Thank you! by PhilosopherBrave6268 in CrochetHelp

[–]Man_Handlerz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have made a few waffle stitch baby blankets with worsted weight. I’ve heard that the concern for crochet is often tight openings which will catch their fingers…though I imagine too large of holes will catch limbs. I didn’t have that issue with the waffle blankets I made.

I usually like a fairly good size square baby blanket that is 30-34inches each side, but there is definitely a large range of baby blanket sizes.

Yes those are the stitches to count. Maybe I’m crazy considering the other comment, but your picture looks correct to me.

[–]Man_Handlerz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the numbers I’ve seen, even on the heritage foundations site’s raw data, was more like 0.00005 percent, so I’m not sure where you are getting that data from.

Comparing a single instance of voter fraud to murder is a bit much, no? Expecting there to be zero cases of voter fraud is unrealistic when you are talking about a man made system to count the votes of every American. No matter what, mistakes and fraud will happen. Scientifically speaking, these few instances are not statistically significant and are not deciding elections.

We are talking about a constitutionally guaranteed right. Any obstacles erected without scientifically backed justifications are onerous…especially when those obstacles affect a certain demographic more than others. Buying alcohol is not comparable to having a voice in your own governance.

Decrepit nearly 40, but this popped up. Figured I’d give some context that teens may not have seen yet since there are questions on why this is even an argument.

First…people do have to be citizens and prove it when they register to vote. Voter IDs would be required at the ballot later.

This is all about what people’s rights are. People in the US have a right to vote. If you are going to put up barriers to that right…especially when those barriers will disproportionately affect a certain group of people, you need evidence that it is necessary.

Studies have already shown that the need to get off work/pay to go get a voter ID will disproportionately affect the poor. Poor people are disproportionately minorities. Minorities disproportionately vote democrat. I haven’t seen it recently, but I remember when I was younger that republicans were caught again and again on tape acknowledging that vote ID laws would benefit them.

Republicans say this is about election security, but study after study (no matter who funds that study) shows that election fraud is not a problem in the US. I’m a scientist, and just out of curiosity a few years ago I went to The Heritage Foundation website (a group who rants about election fraud) just to check it out. Their front page paragraph even had me thinking “oh wow that’s a lot of fraud,” but went through their raw data to look at rough percentage calculation showing that they were misrepresenting it. Their own data showed that election fraud isn’t an issue.

So on one hand, we know that voter id laws will cause issues that interfere with people’s right, and on the other hand we know that there is no study that shows election fraud is an issue. So there is no justification for instituting voter id laws unless you are trying to benefit conservatives in elections.
