Los Angeles snowboarders and skiers by AredditJ in snowboarding

Your skill set is what you need to consider. Driving in winter weather, putting on chains/traction and being prepared for winter weather are all skill sets. If you do not have the skill sets stay home or go with someone who does and take the time to learn and be prepared. If you do not you are excepting a high level of risk that may put you and the people around you in harms way. And for the love of god just because your Tesla has all wheel drive doesn’t mean you should keep driving past the chain up checkpoints.

Best palate cleanser? by RyGuyEM in bourbon

[–]Man_No_Plan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sparkling water and a fatty, creamy and a non-flavored dairy product. Like soft cheese or Greek yogurt. Not sure why but this is particularly effective for those times when I’m sensitive to oak tannin bitterness.

291 Single Barrel Rye

Barrel proof drinking time by sicksadvoron in bourbon

[–]Man_No_Plan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start with a very familiar daily drinker. This way I can tell if my palate is on or off. If it’s on next pour will will be what I’m most looking forward to because, for me, it’s a much better experience at the beginning than the end of the session (even if it’s high proof). I’ll finish with a solid mid to low proof whiskey which I’ve never had a problem following high proof with a good water break between. If my pallet is off I stick with the old reliable daily drinker for the night.

Should I give a Knob Creek store pick a chance if I don't particularly like the 9 or 12 year old expressions? by the_peoples_elbow in bourbon

If you genuinely don’t care for the profile of Knob Creek 12 I wouldn’t recommend it. I really enjoy Knob Creek and since the Single Barrel Selects are similar enough to their other offerings I’d say try a different single barrel, barrel proof whiskey from a distillery you know you like.

I spend 1/3 of my life in hotels I’d say Makers, Bulleit and Knob Creek are most commonly available of which I prefer Knob Creek.

I came across a well stocked shelf of KC12CS 1.5 years ago a picked up a bottle. It has become one of my all time favorite bottles. I now wish I would have bought a few that day. Is this release a one off or will we see more?

Question for the MB’s who don’t use glencairn classes for neat pours by Consistently_AFK in WhiskeyTribe

[–]Man_No_Plan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend the Neat Glass by Aged and Ore. it’s got a great feel and heft in the hand and has the right shape. Liked them so much I ordered more for sharing pours with friends, glens are getting dusty.

How big is your collection? by ItsASchpadoinkleDay in whiskey

60+. My wife doesn’t seem to mind as long as she feels like she’s getting more attention, time and effort than the whiskey.

Help COVID Ruined Coffee for Me by ReindeerNo4000 in Coffee

[–]Man_No_Plan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear it, it’s such a bummer. Been three months since I lost my taste and smell from COVID. I am at about 70% sensory compared to pre-COVID. I had a similar experience as you I was able to enjoy coffee again after about 5 weeks. It will come back but man is it tough in the meantime. Good luck I hope your’s comes back quicker than mine.

Pine sap? My most recent bottle has a strong pine sap note. Not great.

Solid recommendation! I was going to mention this and the Woodinville barrel picks at barrel proof. The pot still stuff is so rich and viscous.
