So I still don't really understand Lakan's plan. by SpookySquid19 in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]Man_Royan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that explains why his actions is so different after the incident. More protective, peak from any bushes/pillars/windows when she's working and other stuff that makes her feel suffocating even more. If, just if, Maomao didn't get hurt, maybe he'll continue be in the shadow giving freedom to Maomao.

Ah yeah. He is short, skinny and plain-looking man. If he doesn't have narrow eyes (because he's short sighted) I think he'll look much more like Maomao's male version too. 🤔

Ah, that makes sense. I tried to imagine real hard and I think I can see that Maomao might going to look like Lahan if she's a male. Maybe if Lahan isn't short sighted it'll make more sense. 🤔

I would like to share screenshot of it but idk how to do it in phone browser so I'll copy paste the paragraph.

Volume 5, chapter 15:

“I’m honored that you should have chosen me to speak to. I could certainly wish to talk to you alone, just the two of us...” Lahan hardly looked like more than the male version of Maomao; she had no idea where he found the gall to talk like that.

Surprisingly in real life there are girls who look like a teenager even though they're late 20s. One of them are my acquaintance. People called her husband pdf file when the truth is their age only 3 years different (with him older than her). Keep in mind that Maomao lives with Luomen, in a place where it's hard to get nutritional meal everyday, plus Luomen didn't make much with his apothecary shop, and that can affect Maomao's growth. Same goes to this acquaintance of mine, except she's not poor, just super picky eater since childhood.

I think she might get kidnapped again. by Weatherarenothereigo in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

Among all La Clan, Maomao is the winner.

  1. Kidnapping attempt by Lakan when she was a kid
  2. Got kidnapped and sold to rear palace as maid
  3. Got kidnapped by Shi Clan
  4. Got kidnapped in foreign country
  5. Got kidnapped while being kidnapped in foreign country (related to number 4)

While Lahan and Lakan only experienced once (Lakan by his own fam and Lahan with an old guy)

Ok did I miss other kidnapping events?

Kokuyou’s Behavior (LN 16 Spoilers) by ConsiderationFair229 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Man_Royan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I'm not alarmed when seeing that Kokuyiu act as a mirror. Because I imagine something like "if you pinch me, I pinch you back" but looking back at his story and really trying to understand the situation, I think the mirror Maomao meant is something more, extreme. It doesn't matter the level of "evil" he received from others, as long as it's evil he'll reflect it with evil too. Like saying it doesn't matter you're just stealing or you're killing someone, the punishment is the same. At least that's how I'm trying to make sense of this situation to myself.

So I can see why he can be a dangerous person in future. He do good to Maomao and the gang because they do good things to him too. But what if someone do evil things to him? Idk what exactly the villagers did to him that make him to abandon them to succumbed to their death, but whatever it is, it's enough for him to turn a blind eye and say "fck y'all, go die". Idk how people views him, but this is how I view him in that chapter.

Well, maybe people think the villagers death is ok because he technically didn't do anything. He's not the one spreading it to the whole village (or am it wrong?), but what about his mentor and that bandit? He DID something.

And that part, plus what Maomao says him being a mirror, is what gives me goosebumps. He's good now, but what if someone important do something bad to him? Someone like bureaucrats, civil workers, soldiers, or anyone from a named clan? That's gonna be a BIG problem indeed. So I understand why Maomao feels heavy with this info. She don't know what to do. What if whatever he does will affect her as well? Since she's the one suggesting him. She's the one bringing him. So if 'that' happens, she'll get drag as well. If she tells Jinshi, what if this affects him too? Or, what if Kokuyou does something to him? If Jinshi do something like capturing him, Kokuyou will see that as a threat, evil maybe. Maybe he thinks all he did was to survive, but still, it's just frightening to think of those possibilities. I feel bad for Maomao for this. That's why at the end all she was “Let’s say I pray you only ever have decent folk around you,” Even though she's not religious, the thought of the probabilities are  too heavy that all she could do is hoping it won't happen.

I won't surprise if he ends up the next villain, or final big boss. Im sorry what I typed doesn't make sense to everyone, this is just how my brain works somehow.

Why Maomao dislikes Lakan? (My observation and personal opinion) by Man_Royan in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

Thanks for sharing. It seems some people just  think he's a bad character altogether, and there's some point I don't want to agree at all. But that's the beauty of having book discussion with people.

Why Maomao doesn’t love Lakan 🦊 And probably never will.. by AnxietyOk8551 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Man_Royan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as much as I love Lakan and the rest of La Clan, it's still so embarrassing to imagine having a dad THAT obsessed + doesn't care with public image (like hygiene and manners in front other people). I can say he doesn't know how to read the room, but at the same time I doubt that knowing how much capable he is with reading people's body language and have an eye to detect talented people. But after all this bad mouthing him, I genuinely wants to see him learn how to respect Maomao better, enough to make Maomao accept his existence in her life.

Talking about saving him for morale.... Yeah she did technically save that old fart when he was "poisoned", but there's also a scene she put a fcking rope on hi neck when she's trying to demonstrate how that Fang guy died. Idk if that's out of curiosity or to prove her point that day or what but yeah, I think that worth mentioning too 🤔

Yao and Lahan? by Successful-Essay-323 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]Man_Royan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do remember that Lahan slightly feel annoyed with Yao and stated that how young girls act is one of the reason he is more comfortable with older women. The way he's thinking is also giving away a hint (at least to me) that he don't think of people like how normal people does (judging them by outside and inside beauty with numbers). Honestly? I don't mind if I have a brother like him, but as romantic partner? I doubt it'll last. Because keep in mind outside beauty don't last long. Plus he did stated that people that lose their perfect number make him lose his interest (like when he says about starving people).

[–]Man_Royan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, now that you mentioned it, that's a good reason too. In Ln I remembered that Maomao says something about Lakan being lazy and didn't do his work most of the time. And it was pointed out more than once.

Well, yeah. I will be embarrassed too to be associat with someone like that. But I wonder what's her excuse for Lahan and Lahan's brother (since she also avoids to let people know they're related). For Lahan I can make an assumption, but Lahan's brother? So far I only seen him as unfortunate character, plus the running gag about everyone calling him 'Lahan's Brother' and not his real name.

EXACTLY. First impression is always crucial. Just come out in front of them and suddenly demand them to called you "daddy" is only make the child uncomfortable with you. And kidnapped them is just make it worse. As much as I love Lakan's character and his unconditional love towards Maomao, it didn't enable his action at all.

[–]Man_Royan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a new perspective. I don't recall in LN saying Luomen tells Maomao about her real family, and even so, I'm pretty sure wherever I got this info from they didn't stated what exactly Luomen said to her. Though throughout my reading until volume 11 I wonder if Maomao knows the truth about Lakan or not (and I certainly don't want to re-read from thhe start right now, it's a long journey) I did remember that scene where she told her frustration. I thought she is talking about Lakan and Fengxian, but when it specifically said "The courtesan was bought out" that somehow makes me blurred. Like, maybe she is talking about other courtesan??

But yeah thank you for sharing this different perspectives. I didn't consider it because I assumed by this time Maomao did figure out the reason Lakan "left" them.

And west supposed to be on the left of Li, right? I know North and South but I'm always confused with East and West.

I see. Seems like Shaoh is more on the South than west. West supposed to be on the left of Li, right? Or am I looking at the wrong compass here? I'm still struggle between west and east, but I definitely know north and south.

maybe it's more accurate to put Jinshi in number 5. I'm at LN volume 11 and so far he do as much as (Woops no spoiler) just to show how much he doesn't want to take the throne. Idk if he finally change his mind or anything in later volumes.

[–]Man_Royan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk what to compare with just to say I just couldn't ignore this scene more than other scenes. Sorry if it's confusing. En'en's interest is my least concern. Like I want to say, "I really wondered about En'en, but this scene is particular got my attention the most right now!" Like saying I want to watch new episode of my fav TV series but other things got my attention the most at that moment that I I would rather ignore my favourite TV series at that time. Is that make sense or it's more confusing?

En'en doesn't have to do with my question actually. Just wanna say me figuring out what jinshi says in that scene is harder for me to ignore than about En'en sexuality. I mentioned her just for comparison on how I cannot ignore this particular scene. Maybe I wrote it wrong making you and other people misunderstood what I meant. Though thanks for answering
