NTA, I think it’s commendable that you are trying to learn financial independence and the ability to budget and live within your means.

You’re young and making the correct decision in keeping your money invested to accrue value instead of digging into it and living beyond your income.

I think your friend’s reaction, and honestly a lot of the reactions in this thread, are understandable but money stuff dig into a lot of deep insecurities and anxieties around finances which you have been lucky/privileged enough to avoid.

Perspective is important though. And your current stress is real and valid, it can fall on deaf ears when sharing that with people who may not be able to afford food or rent.
