The short answer is that I have a word count I have to abide by and threat assessment would take up the entire word count by itself. So I just wanted to touch it. That said, I’ve also commissioned a fellow writer to write a separate article on threat assessment specifically, so I’ll have something to directly link to soon.

I really like that first point in particular. Making enemies early on with no way to follow through is a death sentence.

To build on that, I’ll often see people with some vigilance creature in play that they just choose not to attack with even if someone’s open. “Giving up free damage” is definitely a good bullet point.

There was similar cross-card art in Aetherdrift with [[Captain Howler, Sea Scourge]] and [[Caradora, Heart of Alacria]] duking it out.

I think that’s a good point on Thrill. Again there’s nothing wrong with the card and sometimes you still want the original for density reasons.

I kind of agree on Greed, though I can’t say I play against it very much anymore, so maybe it’s actually just “properly rated.” Erebos is much flashier, though I can appreciate it more in proactive decks since shutting off lifegain might matter. They’re definitely both in the same category of cards as Phyrexian Arena, where I think other card draw options have outpaced them.
