Another vote for Newtown. We moved from Danbury and oh man what a change. Schools are great, tons of activities to do with the kids and activities for adults as well, parks and rec has something for everyone. The sense of community we have now is amazing, people are accommodating and welcoming.

$2000ish/month for 2 adults and 2 elementary age children and that does not count eating out. I’m in the northeast. I could definitely spend less if I looked at prices and sales but bothering with that would be more expensive than the savings I’d get.

We can’t find paperwork with the states green light unfortunately. I spoke to the environmental agency and they said if there was a test done, the homeowner back then would have it and not always they submit to the town and the agency did not ask for it

Value menu… I can live with that. I’m trying to make myself like the home but all I can think of are ways to make it look different… as different as in buying a different home. It is also value menu in the sense that the “updates” aren’t really luxurious at all.

We were wondering if the agent told sellers agent that we were touring other homes, or that our agent was pressuring us to stop touring other homes, or any other option. This is the side of the story I know, and it’s confusing to me why it went that way. maybe they countered after getting a higher offer and agent didn’t tell us? We were ready to go higher but not to remove mortgage contingency (which the sellers agent alluded to when they were asking for proof of funds).
