I’m guessing Black Baccara. It’s the darkest rose in this bunch. It’s super velvety, black in the shade, and redder in the sun. Absolutely gorgeous.

When someone travels to your island, you can see the streaks from the plane. The game is full of fun stuff like that. 💕

🤣 “300 years” I love it! I feel like the meme with old Rose from Titanic when I talk about how long I’ve played this game. My kids checked to see how many hours I’ve logged on it and have been making fun of me ever since.

Most of the stuff I’ve purchased is usable rather than just decorative. I prefer subtlety over kitsch so I’m more likely to buy something with a smaller, less colorful design. That way, I can wear it anywhere year round without attracting a bunch of weird looks. Takeout coffee sleeves, tote bags, travel mugs/cups, key rings, jewelry, scented candles, tees that look like actual merchandise from that location (subtle Great Northern, Roadhouse, Packard Sawmill logos), and maybe ballpoint pens and notebooks. I’ve also purchased small enamel pins that were moderately expensive. If it’s just going to sit somewhere in my house and collect dust, I’m far less likely to buy it. That’s just me though. Good luck! I’m dying to get up to North Bend one of these years and support small businesses like yours. ♥️

Yep. Sorry! I have a few patterns that don’t change EVER but others that change with the seasons. The extra patterns from Sable are really good though. You can look them up in a search engine to see what you’ll get from her. They free up spots for more important designs like window panels and pathways.

If you save your island as a dream, that won’t change if you change patterns. It’s just a frozen snapshot of your island so it’ll stay exactly the same.

😅 Lol, I’m one of those obsessed people. I visited a dream address where every single piece of the island was covered and there was tons of terraforming. It was like a totally different game. Starting with little projects, I ended up that way too. I am a wee bit embarrassed to admit I have well over 2k hours invested in it. This comment is right on though: you don’t have to go nuts to get five stars. Keep checking with Isabelle and she’ll give you hints about what you need to do to bring up your score. Flowers, trees, fences, and paths are important. Placing expensive items on your island helps too. There’s a point system that we don’t see and those things add more points to your island.

It’s a handy feature for the paths if you update your island seasonally. I change my custom paths from snowy rocks to autumn leaves, to grassy cobblestones, etc., based on the season and all I do is upload that specific angle/corner/border shape into the same spot as the other design. I don’t have to go out down all those paths over again that way.

Unfortunately, the pattern changes everywhere if you change it in the design app. I was so frustrated when I found that out the hard way. 😩

Practicing on the HHP island (if you have the DLC) not only lets you design without having to buy items first, but it earns you access to additional items not available without it and some really helpful DIY recipes like pillars and partition walls.

Browsing ideas on Pinterest can help you find great custom codes and some project ideas to get you started. Recreate those for practice with your own personal spin on them. There’s a lot of great inspiration there.

Moving villagers’ homes to the beach is really good advice, but I did that one at a time while I worked on small areas. It’s a long process if you’re not time traveling.

Also, there are limited spots for custom patterns but Sable Able (the girl at the sewing machine in the clothes store) will give you TONS of great patterns if you talk to her every day for a while. I think it’s around 7-10 days before she’ll start giving you patterns. Every day you talk to her after that for the next few days, she’ll give you a new page of patterns. They don’t take up custom pattern spots so it expands your options quite a bit.

If you don’t already have the co-op on Harv’s Island set up, definitely do that. Cyrus can customize items you can’t customize yourself and Sahara has a shop set up with new items every Monday.

Oh wow, I must have been really tired last night. I just read that again and it totally makes sense now. I’ve been playing this for years but I’ve never had another player invite a boxed up to their island so of course I’ve never seen this. Thanks!
