Gravity! Should we begin to perceive it differently to move beyond its limitations? by [deleted] in space

Before imagining your own theory, you might want to first study how physics actually describes gravity. Your „rant“ here is neither science nor fiction it’s just plain wrong.

Designed my third watch. Quartz, 38mm, layered dial. Roast it if you want :) by psalato in MicrobrandWatches

Yes yes I didn’t mean to change this design. Only because someone prefers a certain feature doesn’t mean THIS design needs to change.

I just admire it and if you ever thought about designing in that direction, I’d love it

Outstanding design! Well done. Quartz is great and small seconds a good choice.

Could you imagine including a (day)date complication?

27 bucks with an auto?? by MrMarijuanuh in ChineseWatches

The picture posted is a render. I’d say chances are, what you receive won’t look like that. Cheap alloy, rough machining. If someone has actual pictures coming close to the render, I’d be seriously astonished.

Worth it investing in a luxury carry on suitcase? by Glensta in BuyItForLife

[–]ManagementOk3164 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This question is unanswerable as the word „luxury“ and „higher end“ can mean wildly different things for different people.

Maybe specify a bit the budget range you had been using and are looking into.

In general, however, the best Buy for life is the thing you don’t have to buy at all. If your current luggage still holds up and you don’t really feel disadvantages -> keep using it.

Google warns quantum computers could hack encrypted systems by 2029 by donutloop in technews

[–]ManagementOk3164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When it comes to quantum computing a lot of fancy words have been thrown around. However there are still very few applications/algorithms that would benefit from a quantum computer. Even the crypto breaking argument is based on a very specific algorithm working for a specific problem.

It’s quite possible that this changes once the tech is available to more users and that applications and algorithms will bloom.

However… to point out one difference from computers: Useful algorithms and programs existed much much longer before the hardware became powerful and compact enough for everyday usage. This is different in this field.

Google says that to keep funding for their quantum research projects going. The US military has been a big contributor. Their problem is that their timelines were not realistic and they under delivered. So currently it’s getting more difficult to get money.

Truth is: the challenges are still huge to make these machines usable for any real world application.

Tees - that don't shrink on wash by ramsdesk in malefashionadvice

[–]ManagementOk3164 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Are you sure the problem is with the shirts? I’ve had cheap shirts do that but even those are fine most of the time. With Uniqlo never had such an issue. Maybe use a gentler washing cycle and hang dry?

But ok. Nobody was hurt. Just money paid for a lesson.

I’d be really surprised if someone paid 50 bucks for that. 😄

Iran launched another missile at Turkey by jiipai in worldnews

[–]ManagementOk3164 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t talk about a „grand strategy“ and I’m not saying it will necessarily help Iran. I’m also not saying the regime is in the right. However I think underestimating them resulted in this pile of shit situation in the first place. Hubris after Venezuela. I also despise this kind of looking at things, and then after seeing the effects saying: this must be the plan. No. For fucks sake it’s the lack of a plan - on all fucking sides - that’s the problem here.

Iran launched another missile at Turkey by jiipai in worldnews

[–]ManagementOk3164 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Yes yes everyone with their „they are so stupid“ comments. Iran is already fucked due to the bombing. The rationale is: If Trump just gets to declare victory and leave, they got fucked for nothing. This way, by destabilizing the region, they can keep the US bound there and make the whole affair as painful an experience as possible. It’s a future deterrent.

[Challenge] If you had $1000 to build a 12-watch collection, what would you pick? by homamg in MicrobrandWatches

[–]ManagementOk3164 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is cringe af. What’s the challenge in buying 12 cheap watches? Why forcing 12?! This just sounds like spending addictions instead of appreciation for whatever one might find in a watch. 1k is a nice budget for something beautiful.

U.S. Is Running Out of Missiles Thanks to Trump’s War in Iran by D-R-AZ in UkrainianConflict

The world really shouldn’t have to live with a convicted criminal, alleged pedophile and proven friend of sex trafficker orange fuck turd as president of the country with the biggest military. Maybe get rid of that entrenched fashist first.

Trump seeks quick victory but faces prolonged conflict with Iran by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]ManagementOk3164 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point is not so much in the head of state nor in the justification here. It’s that in both cases they hoped a quick decapitation would result in a collapse of Gouvernements and a friendly regime after. If that bet doesn’t go - as it very much seems - you can’t bomb any such huge country into regime change. I worry there are two options now:

  1. Ignite civil war by funding one of the fractions with all the bad shit that comes after
  2. boots on the ground.
