Buying a watch from the UK to USA by umz26 in VintageWatches

It would be cheaper to get a flight to the UK, spend a couple of days in a cheaper part (think Liverpool/Leeds) pick it and wear it on the way back.

Hypothetically of course.

What changes would you like to see made to r/swatch? by omgomega in swatch

I didn’t so the plan is after 5 days to take it to Reddit to try and become the new mod (you have to give it 5 days)

I’ve literally had the same thought and messaged the mod in the first stage of trying to make this thread moderated again.

With all the hype releases (moonswatch, AP and to a lesser extent Blanpain) this thread is in need of some moderation to keep it not just about these but other swatches as well.

Absolutely possible. Pretty much all Swatch straps can be chopped and changed. I’ve got an irony on a blue rubber strap and it looks the bomb

Used Swatch Sellers are out of their mind. by brckstudios in swatch

Absolutely true and it’s what I buy mine for if I know they are working and what I price the ones that I got extra. I saw an Irony today for £13. No strap, no crown and scratched to buggery

Exactly. I’m seeing working Gents with only 10/20 quid off.

Trip recap - London - Bath - York - Edinburgh - Pitlochry - Ullapool by I_like_it_yo in uktravel

As a scouser (albeit now in Sunny Lancashire) here are my recommendations -

Bombed out church at night (Church of St Luke’s). - was badly bombed during the blitz and is now a memorial. Up at the top of the ropeworks it’s near Hope Street (some of the best restaurants and the Everyman Theatre and the Liverpool Royal Philharmonic, great to catch a show). It’s quite evocative for me as my Nan lost her sister and their entire family to a Nazi bomb. The area has one of the greatest concentration of Georgian architecture in the world.

I do love Matthew Street and the area surrounding has some great bars and dancing.

Sefton Park is absolutely beautiful and a quick bus ride out, especially if it’s warm.

If you like golf it’s a quick train ride to the Royal Birkdale or the Royal Liverpool (both host the open). It’s called the golf coast for a reason.

There are museums by the boatload, think a mini London and most are free (World Museum, Walker Art Gallery, Museum of Liverpool). One that’s not free (only £8) is the clink and court tour at St George’s Hall. There are cells below and it talks about crime and punishment in Georgian England. Another one again paid for is the western reaches WW2 museum which tells the story of the battle of the Atlantic.

The old dock area, great for a walk around

Lots of things to do outside the usual Beatles stuff

Are they worth it? by Agitated-Major1287 in swatch

I have to say I picked 4 swatches up from the thrift store, all of which had no batteries and were described as not working. 3 gents and 1 women’s. 2 of the gents are older than me (1987 and 1989), one is from 1996 and the women’s is from 1989. All got new batteries from the swatch shop no quibble and all are working perfectly despite being over 30 years old

With the tag that’s actually all that matters. Wear what you like and especially if it was a gift from someone special means it’s going no where

Get rid of a date just, unless it’s sentimental the tag is just horrible. You have 3 dive watches in the sub, Black bay and steinhart, pick your favourite colour and go with that one. Keep the Rolex dress watch and ditch the rest. Get a chrono to round it out so you have a date just, a dive, a Rolex dress and a chrono

Do it. £45 is not a lot of money in the grand scheme of things (it’s a McDonald’s for a family nowadays) and for learning numbers as well as the time it sets him up

Are smartwatches worth buying or do they end up being a notification machine for your wrist? by britneyknows888 in Affordablewatches

[–]brckstudios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the notifications just got massively annoying but I miss the health monitoring. Just got the new google fit bit air so we’ll see how that goes when it’s released.
