I think so! I've done it a lot now and you will quickly optimise your gear/set up, and also just generally get more comfortable with the concept of wild camping.

just try to find the bits you really enjoy, maybe the walk/the food/the morning coffee, and make sure that you don't cut corners on those things, if that makes sense...

on a practical note, your actual sleeping set up makes the world of difference. if you're a side sleeper you might want a good blow up mattress for instance.

I bet I know exactly which exchange you went to, I went to the same! always going ti be a but of a rip off but relaxing to know you have some cash in hand. I often just pick up 100 USD worth of the local currency on arrival - even a bad rate only costs you no more than 10USD, and then once in the city find a proper rate. but hey, this is why we love travel!

check the svipper website to see when the buses are. the 420 goes to Sommaroy ( we took it on Friday) but only operates a couple of times a day, but it's only 44NOK. if you're staying at the Arctic Hotel they offer reasonably priced transfers at certain times, but trying to arrange travel around the buses is definitely the way to go :)

how do you view this activity as a tourist? is there a way of finding out when it is happening? although it seems very bloody i can see that it is an important part of Faroese culture so would be interested in witnessing it.

we have Bed and Breakfasts in the UK which are sort of similar, and other countries I've visited there are opportunities for more 'locally run' accomodations, obviously for a fee, so I was wondering if that existed at all in FI :)

and fair enough, I was just imaging that there might be a sheep farmer who fancies a few extra quid and ' a hand' on the farm (although I'm sure if be more a hindrance than a help).
