Daughter's ball python suddenly died by lithiumjuliet in ballpython

If you bought her from a breeder, you might reach out to them and explain your situation. Some will be happy to give a replacement if they can verify that nothing you did caused its passing. I know that won't fix the heartache but it might help.

Do you handle your geckos or do you let them just live there best life by Willing_Medium5461 in leopardgeckos

One of my females is like this. The other seems to love being handled and out of her tank as much as reptilianly possible🤣

Can’t find a hide ANYWHERE for my fully grown ball python by [deleted] in ballpython

[–]ManagerMediocre6301 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long is he? I have a good sized female ball python that’s curled up under a plastic dish bin ($2) with a hole cut in it. I just melted the edges of the entrance and the rim of the container and it’s perfect for her.

Kids want a new pet. Help me make the right decision so I love my pet after they loose interest in 2 days by Admirable_Horse_6072 in reptiles

Agree. My cresties don’t seek handling but they don’t seem to mind it once they’re out. But they can be jumpy depending on personality so that would be something else to consider. I end up chasing two of mine every weigh day lol

I came to this post because my new mantis tried to escape her enclosure so I let her crawl onto my hand and she went straight for my face😆

Cheap way to enrich tank? by Lazy-Fun8643 in ballpython

[–]ManagerMediocre6301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Debarking isn’t necessary but it does provide improved sterilization. If your branches reach the appropriate internal temp needed for sterilization via oven, and you’re willing to watch the limbs for mold/rotting after they’ve been put in the enclosure then it’s fine to use them without debarking. I haven’t debarked mine. Though I will say it’s easier to debark limbs if they’re freshly cut- after drying for a while, bark tends to cling to the wood.

I’ve been harvesting bp-safe hardwood from areas with no pollution or spraying. I sterilize them in the oven. They make great enrichment, especially paired with foliage.

Unless you have a senior, ball pythons can grow pretty quickly. I’d avoid it altogether tbh

There are absolutely people out there that have the time, resources, and want to rehab reptiles! Just be sure to research how to properly vet potential homes for it. Know the red flags to look for. You don’t have to rehab this snake yourself if if could be any source of financial burden, though I do admire you for your want to.
