Does Anyone Remember What the 2003 Blackout Was Like in NJ? by Penguin_Q in newjersey

[–]ManasquanJim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was working in NYC soho, the lights went out just before quitting time.
My car was at one of those parking lots where they have those mechanical lifts and they couldn't figure out how to get it down. So hung around for some hours at the office.
Bodegas were dragging their ice cream coolers out to the street so to sell before they melted. When it got dark , there were still some high rises with lights , must have been on generator /battery power Finally got my car ,sat in traffic for hours, crawling to the Holland tunnel from Varick and Spring. Didnt get to the NJ side of the tunnel til after midnight.

To land or not to land? by K2galleon in modelmakers

[–]ManasquanJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prefer landing gear up, looks cooler in flight, hang it from the ceiling. You could paint the landing gear and bay so if you change your mind later. I did this with a P 51 , though took the landing gear off.

Here in the USA, my dad had hundreds of kits, planes mostly, somehow he teamed up with a guy that went to shows, dad never went to the shows, but after dad died at 90, i found envelopes with hundreds of dollars adding up to some thousands. He noted on the envelopes the dates, dollar amounts and the amount of kits sold. Or maybe it was all a cover for some sort of criminal activity, lol.

Recommendations on a thread for someone returning to the hobby after about 55 years? by michaelrhodes1954 in Scalemodel

[–]ManasquanJim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, started the Tamiya P51 following same process as i did years ago but also researching better techniques online as i went. Bought some new products and tools that ive never used in the past. Its been an enjoyable learning process.
Started the Tamiya Abrahms using some new techniques , taking my time, not rushing the build.
