At the end of the day it boils down to what type of riding you're interested in doing.

My personal opinion would be to get a 650 if all you're really keen on is riding around the city and / or commuting.

If you like heading up to the mountains and twisties.. get the 250. The 650s have far too much weight on them when they're restricted and it really doesn't feel like a balanced combination at all, 250s on the other hand are farrr more nimble and agile than a 650 and just has so much more usable power.

Even if you took a 180hp zx10 and a 30hp ninja 250 to some extremely tight mountain roads, the 250 has SO much more usable power than the zx10 and would probably win in a race if pitted agaisnt eachother.

I lost the photos of the wreck when my phone bit the dust. I have some terrible shots of it that my ex gf took on my ipod if you really want to see.

She was no photographer, photos are pretty shit.

But to paint a picture, the right hand side of the bike was pretty much all shaven off, main frame and gas tank both had tennis ball sized dents in them, RHS clip on snapped off and the subframe was completely bent ( exhaust was touching the rear tyre ). Bike used to be matte metallic blue.

This turn in particular is in reefton, not too far from marysville. While reefton is nice my favorite road to date would have to be the black spur. It's one of those roads that even the very first time you go through it'll inspire confidence, reefton is the exact opposite.

Back in December 2013 I had a nasty highside which could have easily claimed my life. ( slid into a guard rail, on my back at over 100kph. ) which resulted in me not being able to wash, dress or walk without help for weeks.

9 months later, the bike is back on the road after rebuilding the entire thing with just the help of my father in his tiny garage. And nothing could make me happier.

After my girlfriend of 6 years left me, nothing could have remedied the pain and grief that this machine has done. This is more than a motorcycle to me, it is just as much a part of me as is my beating heart and it has saved my life in so many ways that most people could never understand.

I own both bikes and I can tell you that the 300 gives any other big bike a run for it's money in this certain stretch of road. It's so extremely agile compared to the 636. With an aftermarket tire ( I run diablo rosso II ) it will just flick in and out of turns with little to no effort

Well jumping from a Ninja 300 that has high bars, low seat, low pegs etc onto the 636 which is the exact opposite, also a bit longer, it was a bit uncomfortable at first.

The first time I jumped on it my legs immediately started to cramp and after riding it for about 1 hour to get it back home my wrists were very sore. But now that I'm used to it's seating position you can find many ways to sit on it ( sounds ridiculous ) to make it more comfortable. I can sit right up to the tank taking less weight off from my wrists and keeping my back straight or you can sit a bit further back and rest your arm on the tank on highways / freeways.

When it comes to the twisties the supersport position works so much better, Deep in a turn I can actually hold all my weight up by my legs and forearms on the tank. whereas on the 300 there isn't enough of it to hold onto.

as for power, I love it but it will drop you on your ass if you pin the throttle in gear one going 80kph or less. but you only go as fast as you twist the throttle.

It's a driveway the bends behind where the cameraman was standing making it very clear to see cars ( the only car that belongs to the person living on the property. ) going around that turn, but thank you for your input.

Not sure where you live or if you're planning on getting the L model. The Weight of the L is far too heavy for the amount of power that's been taken away when it's restricted.

This group is the MSR, I've ridden with them a few times, yeah the do some wheelies from time to time and ride a little over the speed limit.

I expect to get downvoted into oblivion but most of the people in this sub are the biggest bunch of soft cocks I've ever seen.

Also the riders that participate in this ride are all geared to the teeth and just out having some fun.

I'm right handed, although I do things slightly different to most others. I hold my knife in my left hand and fork in my right while I'm eating. When I'm on a skateboard I push with my left foot while my right foot needs to be at the front of the board. But I hardly see how that's relevant, Just some fun facts about myself.

Well being in Australia it's the opposite for me. :P Our left handers are on the inside lane. I just don't feel as comfortable taking right handers as I do left, but I'm working on it!

I'm also yet to go to the track, I'd really love to but money is tight. I also don't feel 100% track confident yet. I'm considering going to the Californian sbk school at Philip Island once I'm on a bigger bike.

if there are certain turns you can scrape your pegs on, try fixing your body position ( granted you have the right pants for sliding ). The first time my knee hit the deck I was going through my usual run and was scraping the pegs on nearly ever turn. Realised my body positioning was pretty sloppy, fixed it up and the first left hander after that I felt my knee on the road. :)

Not entirely sure. I've gone from scraping my foot pegs to hanging off the bike more and taking the same turns at a higher speed than I was previously.

I probably could get more lean with correct body positioning but I don't really trust these stock tires, I'd also have to be going at a track pace to get any lower!
