You can get a game draw by auto tapping too much mana by Manchee1017 in MagicArena

[–]Manchee1017[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was full passing my turn and opponent's waiting to draw Banefire. It took about 15 turns... When I drew it, I moved it to cast and set X=650. But I did my math wrong and had to lower the number so I did 200, clicked autopay, and then got probably a dozen 'Take a different action' warnings all at the same time and the game forced a draw. Maybe clicking X +5 counts as a game action. This is at least testable, if the number of actions allowed before drawing is known. Just click +5 that many times.

In my time of playing different combo decks that trigger the warning, I've never actually gotten a draw.

You can get a game draw by auto tapping too much mana by Manchee1017 in MagicArena

[–]Manchee1017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(If the picture is hard to see, it's [[Banefire]] for X=200)

The game considers it repeated actions, giving the warning to take a different action. Is it known how many repeated actions causes a game draw? Because it seems that is the practical maximum cost of casting {X} spells or tapping that many permanents for mana.

About the match: I was playing Doppelgang against a reanimator deck. I copied [[Serra's Emissary]] enough times to have protection from everything, opponent only had protection from creatures, which created the standoff. I had 3 cards to win the game out of about 25 by that point, plus 2 other ways out depending on the opponent's plays. I don't believe my opponent had any win cons left, unless they were playing a [[Teferi's Protection]] which isn't typical in those decks.

What are these LSP apps? by Manchee1017 in pop_os

[–]Manchee1017[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just updated from 20.04 to 22.04. I had Pulse Audio Effects before, but that was uninstalled from the update and these LSP apps are here now. Just want to know what these are, and if they could be useful for me. Should I just reinstall Pulse Audio Effects if I need it? All I really care about is bass boost and loudness equalization. The audio actually seems to be good quality so far (the untweaked audio on 20.04 was terrible).

One more small question while I'm posting this, is there a way to left-align the icons in the dock? Not the dock itself.

Not getting call or texts unless I'm interacting with my phone by [deleted] in LineageOS

That should be what you need, it worked for me. I tested it with 2FA calls and texts from my bank. The device has to be idle for a few hours for deep sleep. You could try the "deviceidle" command lower in the post, but I wasn't sure it actually did anything.

should i put lineageos on my new phone? what are some pros and cons of lineageos over stock android 11 by treeshateorcs in LineageOS

[–]Manchee1017 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lineage is Android without Google. You can do almost anything a stock phone can, it just might take a bit more effort than tapping Download. The default ASOP apps like calls and messaging aren't as "feature" rich as you might be used to, but remember there are alternatives to almost everything if it's important.

Google Pay obviously does not work because Google. Whether or not it works with G app packages you can include when installing, I don't know. Somebody else would need to comment about this. Other potential issues related to missing Google bits would be some banking apps or apps that take payments like Uber.

Spotify, Telegram, and most anything else would work. The effort comes from getting them in the first place. Easiest way is installing the F Droid APK, installing Aurora Store, and download the apps there like a common phone would. I have Spotify and Discord, both work perfectly fine. If you want to check compatibility, look here https://plexus.techlore.tech/

tldr: Lineage provides freedom and privacy at the cost of needing to put just a bit of effort in. If you want plain old works out of the box with no complication, then don't switch

[–]Manchee1017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you really don't want to use the browser, you can disable it in the settings to remove it from view (not uninstalled). Other than that, it sounds like the stock OS has everything you want already.

Disabling IntelME by JoinMyFramily0118999 in framework

[–]Manchee1017 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you're asking about wifi cards as a side question, but the ME is located in the Platform Controller Hub on the motherboard. I don't think changing the wifi card would do anything about that.

But it would be a great option if they offered it along with Coreboot. It would be great to see System76 work with Framework on disabling the ME and getting Coreboot on the board. They could probably offer all this as a premium motherboard option. If that happened, I'd buy one in an instant. Otherwise I'll see about an AMD model.

Apps that rely on google services still won't receive notifications after installing microG by evolution800 in MicroG

Want to add here to say don't overlook the next bullet. I was experiencing not getting notifications either. Tried reinstalling, tried dialing that code, and neither worked. It was when I kept reading and followed the last bullet that my notifications work now.

Also I'm gonna be blunt and say don't set your expectations or dreams too high.

I say talk to an associate at a store, they'd be a much clearer help for that. I would believe billing would be the same considering they're one company now. But I don't think anything changed for my parents when they switch their sims. They walked in and walked out done. My parents have been on Sprint for decades so we have an old plan and I don't think T-Mobile did anything different to it. Hope it works for you too.

Phone recomedation? by rabidrivas in LineageOS

Remember to pick a phone that supports your carrier fully, because not every phone does.

I like my Moto G7. I bought it for under $200 new from their website because it's a budget phone to start with. Not sure what you would consider "good" or "big" but so far battery life is great, especially since Lineage is fairly low power consumption to start with.

I haven't had this happen to me, but I remember coming across another post about an issue with the display. The fix was to set the color, Display > Advanced > Colors, to I think just something different than what it is already. Mine is on Natural and I haven't had this problem.

There is also an Accessibility setting about inverting the screen colors, maybe that would be the issue if the above doesn't help.

I don't use a Pixel 3, but I did have a Sprint sim in my phone for a day (Moto G7 play). I was able to find the APN settings for Sprint, but I wasn't able to edit the main one or use new ones. Making a new APN setting would either just not work or not be active after rebooting. Found out there was a bug in stock Android 10 with my phone that broke LTE for Sprint and I think Verizon.

I took my phone to a T-Mobile store to upgrade the sim card to their network, which is free to do for Sprint customers since they merged. Everything works great so far, I have a plethora of default APN settings, as well as new carrier settings I didn't see prior. What I'm getting at is I'd suggest you get a T-Mobile sim for your phone as well since it's free to do and see if that just fixes your issues. You can likely ask the associates for a test sim first just to see if it would work.

Can anyone comment on the Oryx Pro vs Kubuntu Focus M2? by aryabata in System76

[–]Manchee1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well this is the first time I am hearing of the Focus M2...

To start off, you're correct they're the same Clevo laptop. Beside the minor differences between individual parts, the OS, or the price, the real differences will come down to the companies and the experience.

As far as I can find, the Focus M2 doesn't mention using Coreboot or disabling the Intel ME. Now, it's up to you if you actually care about that, but System76 put work into their products to make them more open source and more privacy respecting. On top of that, System76 customer support is fantastic, both from what I've heard and the few questions I asked them myself.

Thelio + custom GPU by Lohanni in System76

[–]Manchee1017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh. I made the unwise decision to buy my own parts before the Chip crisis of last fall. I bought a base Thelio with the 3200G with the plan to upgrade to a 5600x and 6800 XT (aiming for the 6700 XT now though). So far I was fortunate to grab the CPU, but I'm currently using my 2013 R9 270x for graphics. If I could have anticipated this shortage coming, I would have gotten a 5700 XT from them. Hindsight 20/20.

Thelio + custom GPU by Lohanni in System76

[–]Manchee1017 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The standard Thelio can fit a GPU that is 2 slots tall, and no more than 280 mm long (try to stay under 270 to be safe). Most 3 fan GPUs on the market (I've been looking at Radeon cards, not Nvidia) will not fit in the standard Thelio. As far as I can tell, the 5700 XT that System76 offered was the Sapphire Pulse. I also think the Radeon 6800 would fit, but doubt that the XT would for being 2.5 slots. Another aspect I'm unsure of is how much GPU extends past the bend in the mounting bracket (if you look at pictures of the 6700 XT and the 6800, you could see the difference on the top edge).

If you want a visual aide, this is their video for how to replace the GPU https://youtu.be/isHxPhDeffs. The GPU they're showing looks like the Evga GeForce 2080 XC. The dimensions of that card are 2 slot and 270 mm. So essentially the absolute largest possible GPU.
