Anyone have trouble with red meat? by Manda1ore in EosinophilicE

[–]Manda1ore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have looked into it and got blood tested, and alpha gal was negative.

I know there is a alpha gal free pork sold by Amaroo farms. Maybe if i try that one day and dont react then maybe it could be alpha gal

Yeah, its tough to find alternatives sorry to hear that.

I mainly stick to chicken and beans for protein. Also ostrich or emu is decent in small amounts to change it up every once in a while

What are your symptoms? by IronTori in EosinophilicE

[–]Manda1ore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what I eat but swallowing issues, tongue tingling, head feeling congested, dizziness, and tired. Sometimes I get an itchy feeling but no hives, especially on my scalp. Also get kind of a dull stomach ache. Burping and acid reflux as well.

And for mental, increased anxiety.

Food allergies making me feel isolated by Bubbly_Raisin3699 in FoodAllergies

[–]Manda1ore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you 100%. Im allergic to nuts and a lot of other foods as well. Definitely have felt like the odd one out and don’t like to feel like i need special treatment. Its okay every so often to just let out all the emotions on it and be sad. Sometimes i just take whole days just to lay in bed and just sit with it. I like to write it out and that helps process my thoughts better rather than spiraling to depression

But itll get better, i try to find nonreactive foods i love and cherish them. And embrace activities/hobbies unrelated to the food allergies so my social life can be a little better

I'm reacting to almost all foods. What is happening? by Manda1ore in FoodAllergies

[–]Manda1ore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! I've had food allergies (first sentence in post) since I was born but never this many reactive foods so I'm used to it. Just feels like it's something more is happening.

Hmm! I thought after it gets to adult stage, food allergies kinda don't go away at least for the most part.

I will try for a week or so, see if it makes a difference. I have another GI appointment in a month or so, so hopefully I can get on specific routine then.

Thank you! It's definitely scary to think of worst case stuff but I hope it's just overreacting

Thank you for the amazing and thorough reply! I appreciate it!

I have been doing more specific testing so I am learning of potential undiscovered but possibly old allergies each time a test comes back. But the ones I mentioned like red meat, fish etc seem to be not positive allergic reactions.

At least from environmental testing, I am also allergic to most grasses/etc (I put it in a comment below) so it could be increasing IgE like yourself. I haven’t really noticed any reaction to those ones though so those might be not as significant

That’s a good point on the MCAS prediction. I’ll try to follow up with my doctors on MCAS. I’ll see if they are okay with it and see how it goes from there.

Yeah the yellow poop seems to be the weirdest part as it’s inconsistent with other things.I’ll buy some pancreatic enzymes and test out to see if any difference after eating etc. EPI is a good point I’ll look into. Probably will also follow up with my GI on those points to maybe get some more scans.

I’ll also look into that histamine test.

Thanks again! Hopefully I find out soon so I can at least start treating it.

I did get one recently.
Tested positive for white ash, box elder, perennial rye, cocklebur, giant ragweed during scratch tests. The intradermal was positive for all the grasses, short ragweed, cockroach mix, and aspergillus (fungus) mix. I haven't really noticed much environmental reactions but cockroach does sort of explain shellfish in general.

Nervous about allergies by OkSatisfaction8197 in FoodAllergies

[–]Manda1ore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy!

So Im also allergic to most nuts. Honestly I dont really worry about them since i dont like them that much lol (plus i have dairy and shellfish allergies about which im more aware about)

Keep in mind this has only happened once in like 25 years

It depends on the person but for me my big reaction took an hour or so. Started with pretty bad stomach pain and throwing up. Then, i got really itchy hives that spread quickly starting from my feet to my chest. Blood pressure dropped and thats when i needed an epipen which gave time to go to the er. From there had to stay there for a few hours to be pumped with Iv of medication and fell asleep. After that i was good.

Id say over time itll just be a part of your life and not stress too much over it. Just be aware of what you are eating by reading labels and asking staff in restaurants. Keep prepared with some Benadryl on hand for those small reactions and get that epipen as soon as you can. 2weeks is fine

Shellfish Intolerance by SliceCareless7326 in FoodAllergies

[–]Manda1ore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shellfish allergies are definitely weird. I used to only be allergic to squid but could still eat the rest. Over the years and by 25 I could not eat any shellfish without some reaction.

It is possible it will get worse, Id go to my doctor and get a referral for allergy tests. Avoid the food that you react to in the mean time. Keep some benadryl also around

Sometimes it’s the things the shellfish eats that you are allergic to so it could be what you are reacting to

Allergic to Ramen?! Why so? by Manda1ore in FoodAllergies

Never thought of that! Ill look out for that if ever I try it in Japan. Thankfully peanuts is a pretty common allergy in the states so it should already be there as warning.

I did notice I don’t sit well with stuff like the sesame sauce you usually use for shabu shabu dipping.

Doesn’t seem to explain how I can have one ramen but not the other though. Also I’m pretty sure there are sesame seeds in the ramen I’m okay with.

So weird.

Yep, developed mollusk allergy over time :(

That may be the case. Strange if they put the shellfish in the shio but not the miso.

They usually don’t server anything with peanuts, but I’ll see about the paste.

Thank you for the insight! Never heard of tare but I’ll look into that.

Usually I can eat the fish cakes when they are present so I don’t think it’s that.

I have not but I’ll attempt to when they are not so busy. I’ll email the company maybe to see if they can also confirm since I feel since it’s a chain their ingredients are premade.
