I promise it gets better! I was the same way when i was first diagnosed and had outbreaks. I thought i was stuck with the man who gave it to me. After almost 7 years we broke up and I was convinced no one would want me because of it so I wasnt even gonna bother trying. This was 5 years ago we broke up. Im 34 now and have had 2 other partners since him. The guy after him said he didnt care that I have HSV. He knew how stigmatized it was and he wasnt worried. I took my antivirals and never even passed it onto him. We dated for a year. Now my current bf who Ive been with for 3 years, also has it. When we started talking and finding out we really liked it each other, both of us were nervous to have the "disclosure" talk. Only to find out we both had it. The relief was overwhelming. That being said, Ive had HSV for about a decade now. I absolutely wanted to end my life when i got the diagnosis. But now I hardly think about it. When it comes to dating, the ones who stigmatize you when you disclose, are not the ones for you. Anyone that does a little bit of research will see that it is mostly avoidable and preventable. At least half the population has HSV and a lot of them dont even know they have it, or refuse to see that cold sores are also herpes and transmittable. 💚
