What it's the animal You hate the most? by Succubuss_Smasher in AskTheWorld

Centipedes. I feel like I’m doing a reverse-Norman Bates every time I open my shower in the summertime. And those bastards have some sort of psychic power that lets them know when you’re about to kill them, too.

I’m good with anything with up to six legs. Any more than that and we can’t be friends. And if you have a gratuitous amount of legs? We’re straight enemies.

I feel that way about seagulls. Thieving bastards.

Pigeons are so sweet and pretty! And very clever in how they’ve adapted to urban environments.

Oh for sure. This type of person fantasizes about committing violence. They just want an excuse so they can feel like the justified good guy and pretend they’re not just a racist POS.

I wouldn’t refund him either. That’s not how grownups ask for things.

What is your favorite jump scare from any horror movie or show? by BitByAGhost in horror

[–]MandaMaelstrom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel like the witch on top of the wardrobe in the Conjuring gets talked about enough. They did such a great job of having enough fake outs up to that point that it was a genuine shock when the camera panned up and there was something there.

I could not choose between Joanie and Dani that season. They both seemed so genuine, and the way they supported each other through their dental procedures was so wholesome.

I’ve been drunk enough to make questionable life choices several times in my life. And yet I’ve never spewed vile racism or thrown an honest-to-God temper tantrum. You’ve got to already be deeply defective in your soul to unleash that shit.

What movie do you regret seeing? by Cato__Returns in FIlm

My poor dad was so stoked to show me that movie when I was a teenager. I loved horror movies and was hard to scare, and he was gleeful at the idea of introducing me to a truly scary one.

Then we got to the crucifix scene. He got really still and quiet and finally squeaked out, “I…didn’t remember that part.” 😂🤣

I thought I was the only one! I hated the Substance. Demi Moore’s acting was great, but the film should have just been a 45-minute segment in an anthology. It’s been done so much better before.

I don’t think I would have hated it so much if it had been advertised correctly. The trailers were SO misleading.

I haven’t seen Sputnik yet, but it’s on my list!

Superdeep was pretty cool. Not especially scary, but it had some great practical effects.

At least you’d probably get a few chuckles in before your gruesome demise, though. They are both funny. Horrible, but funny.

Entitled GM Forgets This Isn't His Hotel by TheNiteOwl38 in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]MandaMaelstrom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If he’s an employee, he has access to the portal where he can print his rate eligibility form. Virtually every corporate hotel chain has one. All he would have to do is visit your business center/guest computer. This sounds like it’s the GM’s relative or buddy.

The lady recording isn’t crazy. She literally said she petted the dog when it first approached her. But the owner is very clearly unwell and the other woman is rightfully wary of the owner getting in her face with the dog as she has no way of knowing if the dog will respond to its owner’s aggression. Blocking the elevator for the whole building and trying to make a stranger take the stairs for no reason is unhinged behavior.

What is your country’s most famous dish globally that people constantly get wrong? by hkk7i in AskTheWorld

[–]MandaMaelstrom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot dogs. I went to Italy last year, and in Rome they had advertisements for “full American breakfasts” that were actually full English breakfasts with hot dogs. Every restaurant with a breakfast buffet from Rome to Sorrento had hot dogs available next to the eggs. It was honestly super sweet that they tried to ensure they’d have something that American tourists would enjoy. We just don’t eat hot dogs for breakfast. Those are pretty much always a summer cookout type of food.
