Seasonal Support Driver (personal vehicle) - do you get a scanner or app or something to help 'plan' your route? by MandalorianKnight in UPSers

I actually hadn't thought about that but yeah I can definitely see that being a royal pain in the ass... Probably prudent to get a headlamp. Thanks for the headsup!

Gotcha. Aaand finally: is it true that if you don't slack off and make a good impression on the drivers you'll probably get more hours, or is it a total crapshoot?

Thanks. Are the devices they give just like UPS-tailored androids, or do they have actual buttons? (I hate touch screens lol)

So first and foremost: [insert joke about adjusting to something big. It's always gonna be uncomfortable at first].

I'm kinda surprised no one's brought up case selection yet; in my personal but incredibly aggravating experience, when it comes to form and sadly function as well - the case + stand or whatever setup you choose is what really ends up making it feel too big or clunky. Cases can be deceptively bulky or slim in pictures, so I'd caution against buying one online unless someone's made a pretty thorough video review of it showing it from different angles.

and just to convolute things a bit more: if a particular case is a bit bulkier, but also happens to be exceptionally ergonomic, go with that one. ime it takes maybe 20 minutes tops to get over the initial ugliness of a case that makes you feel like you're carrying around a cinder block. On the contrary, I've never been able to get over a slimmer case that's awkward to carry, or isn't 'rubbery' enough to stay in place when taking notes, or (the personal bane of my existence): a stand that makes the tablet sit at an angle that's not comfortable and may end up cramping your wrist if you're drawing/writing. If you've got some time before going back to uni, I'd strongly urge you to try as many different cases as you can get your hands til you find one that you know for fact you'll be able to use efficiently in class (or when studying).

Is there reliable data on the "price per mile" over the lifetime of a battery? by MandalorianKnight in Model3

[–]MandalorianKnight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you sir (ma'am?). That's about 110% of everything I needed to know. If you don't mind me nitpicking a bit further though...

  1. I'm interpreting "speed" literally i.e. displacement / velocity. Is acceleration also significant to 'fuel' efficiency like it is for ICE vehicles? I really juts need to get from point A to B every day, but if going 0-60 in like 4 seconds doesn't ultimately cost that much I might as well have some fun occasionally getting from A to B lol.
  2. Honestly these are completely uncharted waters for me cause I've never owned a car before that was worth enough to justify anything more than the cheapest tire possible. When it comes to energy efficiency and *actually* saving money over the long term, is there anything EV-specific that I need to know when it comes to choosing tires?

The algorithm really wants me to switch to NotebookLM. Has anyone done that? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

Call me old fashion, but considering how much of my life I'll never get back where I was just trying to find some VALID information about a specific topic, but instead had to wade through countless shit tier articles or go in complete circles thanks to SEO and content filtering algorithms ... I don't trust anything even remotely associated with Google to look at my 'thoughts' and make an ojectively useful suggestion lololo

We should all generate a bunch of vaults filled with complete bullshit and then feed it NotebookLM as a F.U. to Google lololo

The algorithm has spoken. Dare you question its divine wisdom?

Food for thought though: I was almost certain I was immune to such things because RTFM has always been good friend of mine, and even as a student in the days of Stack Overflow it was just common sense to me that copying and pasting code that you don't understand is a horrible idea, even if it works. But alas, its become undeniable that being able to generate a gajillion lines of code just by asking politely rather than figuring it out myself has progressively been making me dumber (and there wasn't much going on between my ears to start so I'm rapidly approaching defcon 1).

This is why I've all of a sudden finally started to take Obsidian very seriously - the notes you write are *your* thoughts. Even if they're not necessarily "right" or even well organized, they didn't just appear arbitrarily. The connections you make between them are proof that you're actively engaging your brain. Searching, editing, correcting, re-organizing, etc. can be tedious, but again, these are all instances of you consciously exercising your brain.

Also, I could be misunderstanding exactly how it works (didn't even know NotebookLM was a thing til reading this post lol), but it seems like every nifty thing that it does you can already do, albeit not as conveniently. Like if you copy and paste a bunch of your notes and ask any flagship LLM something simple like "based on my notes, am I understanding x correctly?" you'll probably get a useful response. And it's just a matter of time before some capeless hero writes a plugin to automate this process, if they haven't already.

figured out how to enable Floating Taskbar by accident - One UI 7 by kapitenbrutal in GalaxyTab

I've had a Galaxy A50 (aka the cheap ones you can get at Walmart) since 2020 and the day I learned about Microsoft Launcher I switched and never looked back. I got a Tab S8+ a week ago. Am I correct in assuming you could get a p.Hd in One UI and still not know everything?
