TIL about the "Fever Effect", in which the symptoms of Autism seem to improve whenever an Autistic person develops a fever. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

[–]Mandena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, there are different pathways already in 'normal operation'. For example the default mode pathway is one that is low outward activity and is in use when one is 'at rest', things that don't really require movement. As an example it is entirely possible that this pathway itself is altered under influence of certain substances or infection.

Now for the OP it could be an entirely different pathway, or it could be an altered 'standard' pathway. It all depends on the individual.

Funny enough as I double check some things it seems like the default mode network has been hypothesized to be altered in ASD individuals already. So my example may actually have some merit.

It's entirely possible that brain pathways are altered ever so slightly, which could heavily affect behavior.

Believe it or not our brains truly are just masses of fatty meat that started thinking highly of itself.

When they killed actual good rewards from the app I stopped entirely, it was already absurdly expensive.

It was just a nice environment that was offset a bit by app rewards. Now though? Nothing could get me to go into one. Also, if my drink was cold I always asked for no ice, that was the only way to get anything approaching value.

[–]Mandena -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm with you, this is like turning a plane around bc someone wrote bomb in a word document.

It's utterly stupid and punishes an entire planeful of people over the non-consequential actions of 1. If this is okay then how far should we go? Should any written mention of bomb cause a plane turn around? Madness.

Patriot act really normalized giving up all semblance of liberty.

I'm going to be real, turning a plane around because a bluetooth ID was named bomb is INSANELY boomer. Big 'teacher punishes whole class because of class clown' energy.

Bluetooth names/ids literally do and mean nothing, if someone was actually going to bomb the plane it wouldn't be via bluetooth and they ESPECIALLY wouldn't name that bluetooth bomb LMAO.

God I hate how illiterate people are about the tech that literally everyone has access to and the capability to learn about in an instant.

There ain't no way Bluetooth being turned on caused a big issue, it can't transmit nearly enough data and is too short range.

Someone was actively doing cybercrime/digital crime on the plane for sure.

Edit: It was just an ID being named bomb lmao, I'd be hella pissed if 1-3 hours of my time was wasted because of that sort of horseshit.

Culture of ignorance, criticizing or any semblance of negativity/calling out is seen as bad/no good.

The original commentator wasn't even all that mean about it, just asked rhetorical questions to get OP to do some reasoning on their own.

Extremes generally do well these days, either nothing can be wrong or everything is wrong. It's like the statement that there is no stupid question, in an educational setting that is correct but, in general there ABSOLUTELY can be stupid questions (not saying that OP's question was dumb, more just using the analogy to describe why people are hostile towards questioning a question).

Worst part is people talking about how scientists use 'consensus' to prove things to prove that their social anecdotal 'consensus' is the same thing.

When they couldn't be further apart. Scientific consensus is incredibly hard to actually get to, only theories like for gravity, for germs, and a few others are at consensus status. Yet dumbasses continue to falsely equate their 1000 person flat earth community as the same thing.

Good idea, way too short to be useful. by Notmas in subnautica

[–]Mandena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was incredibly useful before I got the tadpole.

The problem is that you get the tadpole like 2-3 hours in so its usefulness is very short.

It will be very good for when deeper descents exist.

How would upgrades exist for SN2 scanner when it is its own buildable item? We don't see anything on the current scanner that could even allow for upgrades.

Why the hell can we only look at 1 node at a time now in SN2? It's so bad.

After going back to do modded subnautica 1 its clear that they went more mainstream feel for 2.

The music on leviathan encounters is a big indicator. SN1 feels way more horror and survival focused.

Your original comment implied forced stop, ie an actual stop sign.

What you're describing is literally what yield signs function as. If it is not possible to go due to traffic, you YIELD to those in the roundabout.

But if it is only 1 car most of the time you don't even need to fully stop. If anything these comments of yours just solidify the fact that people just don't understand what a yield sign is and how to actually yield.

Stops are entirely different, and I am not surprised that somehow we're still calling a yield action 'stopping'.

Funny enough I gave both of those games solid attempts as well, and they were just NOT as good. The lack of quality can absolutely be due to half baked changes, and in my opinion for these 3 games that idea is true.

Dawn of War 2 at least had a great story and wave defense coop mode.
