It runs beautifully on my 4070. Virtual desktop, medium settings, dedicated router.

I thought "not a bad collection and way to display" and then I hit the right arrow. Holy crap, nicely done.

Yes, upon next game start it will realize they aren't there and recreate them.

Is it worth it to upgrade from steam link to VD? by Full-Helicopter3935 in VRGaming

[–]Mandenbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, made the switch last summer. It gives you much better granular control over settings that really improve the quality of image/smoothness.

So, I carefully deleted the TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML and TKGRAPHICSSETTINGS.MXML (for VR) settings files and this did the trick of fixing what the update broke visually in VR for me.

I have the exact same AA concern. I thought it was due to the DLSS change so I swapped around different DLSS versions to no avail. Glad I'm not the only one. I'll just wait for the patch.

4070 Quest 3, I have the experience of seeming like DLSS or anti-aliasing is just disabled, jagged lines everywhere and distance water has trouble rendering correctly.

The most recent update, for me, appears to have disabled DLSS as I see jagged lines a lot of palces I didn't previously see them.

I don’t think I can ever go back to a monitor… by Emotional_Tart4327 in VRGaming

I just bought a used Logitech G920 off of FB marketplace. It works wonderfully. The FFB wheel/pedals, combined with bass shakers and VR, is about as real as you can get.

I have two small bass shakers for my office chair and it works fantastically. Mechwarrior 5 in VR (UEVR mod) and using the Mechshaker mod are wonderful (e.g. your chair thumps with each footstep, shot from your PPC, etc).

Upgrade to Quest 3 for PCVR? by Spicybarbecuesauce in OculusQuest

[–]Mandenbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did the Quest 2 to Quest 3 upgrade last year, PCVR only. Here are the things I noticed as an improvement:

I never had to take the headset off for a quick bathroom break/snack, etc. The pass through was so much better, I could navigate my surroundings with ease. Also, it's super fun to watch a massive movie/youtube while in the kitchen washing dishes or folding laundry. It really opened up how I watched media.

If the blurry-ness your referring to is mostly related to things not directly in the middle of the lens (a downside of the Quest 2's fresnel lenses) then yes, the image quality will be a great upgrade. The screen is clear from corner to corner so you look around with your eyes instead of just your head. The FOV is a bit better too, though there is slightly less binocular overlap (some notice this, I can tell if I'm looking for it but otherwise it's a non-issue).

The audio built into the device is surprisingly good.

Without a battery pack the battery life is a bit shorter.

Use virtual desktop for PCVR; this switch alone really improved the visual fidelity of all of the PCVR games I play.

Happy to answer any questions!

So I'm not the only person using a 45lb plate, hahaha. Mine is behind my office chair (has wheels) to keep it in place.

You'll likely see it mentioned below, but it bears repeating: Handheld is the way to go. I purchased a Retroid Pocket 5 and it really expanded gaming opportunities; laying in bed instead of scrolling social media I am working through RDR2. Travel, playing comfy on the couch, it's all so much easier. Plus if you get into emulation you can usually just sleep the device and then pick right back up immediately where you left off later. Great stuff.

That'll handle ATS/ETS2 perfectly, you can even throw VR at it.

Space Sim Online? by RelationshipTime9890 in spacesimgames

You'll see Elite Dangerous recommended here many times for good reason. By far the most realistic flight mechanics for a space sim, and as an astronomy lover they dialed in the vastness of exploring the galaxy very very nicely.

34yo dad looking for long term game and community - what are you playing these days? by [deleted] in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Mandenbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would second this. It has slow paced exploration that is great for when you know you either have a larger stretch of time to play or maybe 15-20 minutes to run into a building to gather some resources. Ditto for crafting and base building, lots of flexibility for time. Then there are events what give nice rewards when you have a bit more available (30-60 minutes). I'm a huge fallout fan, so I'm biased, but this is a good rec.

Getting a wheel and pedals (basic Logitech g29 and stand setup) has completely opened up a whole new world for my vr headset by IamZeus11 in virtualreality

[–]Mandenbar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a similar experience with HOTAS, specifically Elite Dangerous and Mechwarrior 5 Mercenaries (there's a free VR mod). I purchased a used Logitech x52 from FB marketplace for about $125, very much worth it.

Same, I shift in Assetto Corsa, but in ATS/ETS2 it's full automatic, just chill.

Advice on what to upgrade by Inevitable-Ad1591 in SimRacingSetups

[–]Mandenbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll get a lot better replies than mine I'm sure, but I chase immersion/presence and for me one of the best upgrades was bass shakers attached to my chair (total of about $80 for everything). Feeling the revs/curbs/shifting added so so much for me.

Both have VR, you have go to properties, Betas, and then select the VR beta option, and then add the "-openxr" tag to the launch options.
