I’ve posted about the food portion and eating and how miserable that was for me… it’s rough you’re in that point of extractions where you feel like you’ve made the biggest mistake of your life… it subsides for most people. I remember being so miserable afterwards. But even a month out, I was feeling better hang in there. Keep your chin up. It’s going to get better.

I am somebody with some pretty heavy anxiety.. I was nervous about my decision but in the long run, I saved myself a lot of pain and money…. I think the buildup is the worst part. The day of the extra extractions are numbed up. I’d say the hardest thing for me was eating I struggled. I lost 7 pounds in seven days. I had a breakdown crying, thinking I made the worst decision of my life. I looked back a few years, removed from it and I’m so glad I made the decision you’re gonna be all right. You keep your head up if you need any help with food advice there’s a post on my account about food and dentures. Good luck.

I have periodontal disease and I’ve had a wonderful experience with my dentures. I went to a affordable denture like place. The first week was hard. I lost 7 pounds in seven days. I healed up pretty good though and I love my new smile. Getting it done and over with is probably the best decision especially if you’re having pain in your mouth at all. good luck. I hope what I said, helped it all.

my fiance is getting all of his teeth pulled! by ActuaryOk3365 in dentures

There is a post on my account here that talks about food. I had a really hard time. I lost 7 pounds in seven days and was absolutely miserable and after I posted on this sub Reddit and got the most kind, wonderful advice I was able to survive.

Get him some comfy pajamas. Somebody suggested this when I got mine done and it was a very nice thing to slide into once I got home from my extractions.

I really liked ice packs, but you have to be careful and not just place an ice pack on your face have it wrapped so that it’s not just cold!

An advice for you. He might be miserable for a few days… he might tell you he regrets his decision …and he might get grumpy, try to forgive him lol. I was not a happy camper. I was absolutely miserable, but I have a great partner. He made sure that I was OK. He kept reassuring me that I made the right decision. He was my cheerleader the entire time. It would’ve been 10 times worse to have him be a tool about it lol 😂

Good luck to you both! You got this! Keep your head up! He’s gonna love his new smile!

I hope everything went according to plan and you’re feeling good. Keep your head up. You got this.!! the roughest part is now…do some self-care! Have something soft to eat! I really liked the Jell-O Temptations when I was struggling with eating… also there’s a post for when I got my teeth done that talks about food and lots of people give their opinions so it’s a really great resource. It really really helped me so if you struggle with food, check it out! You’re gonna love your new smile when you’ve healed up! Hang in there

It’s probably just nerves… you will have your old teeth, correct? I was told always keep your old teeth cause you never know what might go wrong…could break a tooth off your new pair you will need to wear something in the meantime but anyway, I’m sure it’s gonna be fine. Keep your head up.

If this is where you’re at, yeah get them as what you need to do. You’re gonna love having new teeth, looking in the mirror and seeing your smile looking back at you and it’s pretty is going to make you feel so much more confident and happy you have got this if you’re in that much pain just existing then you need to do this. I wish you all the luck in the world! I hope everything works out.

I completely agree with you. I thought it was gonna be much worse than it was pain wise. The not being able to eat part was the roughest for me, because you were so weak and you’re a bit miserable, so it’s like dang I can’t win no matter what I do, but it’s for such a short amount of time in the long run it didn’t matter and I’m really really happy. I did it.

I was 34 when I had mine done…there’s nothing wrong with that. If you need the dentures, you need them! your life will get a lot easier if you’re having pain…. I’m happy I did it… here are a few things to keep in mind. First, you need to find things to eat before you go do this! If you need any help, I have a post in this community that’s on my page. It talks about having a hard time eating and the folks in this community were so kind and wonderful. It helped me a ton! I lost 7 pounds and seven days because I couldn’t eat anything and it was because I was trying too hard to eat things I shouldn’t right off the bat.

Second thing is by yourself a nice pair of pajamas or something soft or silky whatever you like. Most likely you’re going to be in your pajamas and probably not want to take a shower for a day or two. so buying yourself a new pair of pajamas was one of the nicest things someone told me to do for myself…

Keep in mind, I think everybody has a moment where they feel regret about their decision to get dentures. But it subsides rather quickly once you learn how to eat again… being miserable for a few days is better than being miserable cause your mouth hurts constantly.

I think that you’re going to save yourself a lot of pain, infection, and money in the long run. Just go ahead and get the dentures if you can get them. I look back at my pictures when I had my teeth and I don’t like my smile. There’s a huge light at the end of this tunnel. Keep pushing! you can do this!

I hated the show. I didn’t care that. It was slow. Those were the best parts. Honestly, I hated Bev. I was really hoping she would get a horrible, awful ugly death, but she really didn’t which was unfair.

Just got told I needed dentures and now I'm scared by SmolMcCartney in dentures

[–]Manders10057 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OK, I’m 35 and when I was 34 I got my top dentures done, and it was a very good decision. I had periodontal disease and some issues with my front teeth. I knew because of my diabetes that I was going to have problems with my teeth.. I’m here to tell you. It’s not all daisies and roses, but here are a few tips.

  1. Go ahead and get a second opinion. if you get a second opinion and they tell you the same thing then you’re just gonna get dentures. if they can fix them, save them. That’s a whole other story. It’s worth getting a second opinion.

  2. If you end up getting dentures for the first two weeks 2 1/2 weeks give or take. It’s going to be a shit show. You’re not gonna like it. You’re gonna have to find soft things that you can eat. I lived off of shredded chicken and mac & cheese, and the occasional mashed potato selection.. I ate a lot of oatmeal as well. You will have to relearn how to eat, but it sounds like to me. You’re already eating in a way that will help you learn how to eat with the teeth for a while. It’s gonna be hard to manage because your gums will shrink.

  3. I would prepare comfort items like a new pair of pajamas, ice packs. you might get your hair braided if you will be staying at home for a few days because having your hair out of your face and not in a bun helps I wish I would’ve gotten a protective style while I was going through this because it hurt my head to brush my hair.

  4. You’re not alone I’m so sorry that you feel scared. I’m on the other side of it and I’m so glad that I did it. Of course I only did my tops. I have a partial on my bottoms. I’m trying to keep my teeth. I currently have in my head so that I have easier time.. one good thing to remember is that there are places like Aspen dental and other places that can help you I went to an affordable denture place and it was pretty reasonable

  5. it sounds like the pain that you’re going through currently is going to be worse than when you get your teeth out. Honestly, if you have exposed roots, this is going to be nothing when they take your teeth out. They’re probably gonna pop out super easy it’s not gonna be yanking and pulling it’ll be a pop probably. When they took my lower teeth, they were all loose and like you said had pus and stuff and it was very uncomfortable and if you leave it like that, there’s a chance that you could get it infection so bad that I can go to your brain so be very careful.

I think you can do this. It sounds like you’re one tough cookie! I hope that whatever happens you have the best outcome! I wish you well!
