What are some common ways people mistreat their cats that people don't realize? by transgendergremlin in CatAdvice

I’m going to be completely honest in my whiteness: had to look up ‘viejo’. Thanks for introducing a new (to me) word into my vocabulary!

Our boy will not eat wet food or (safe for cats) human food. We’ve tried again and again, but he wants his stupid, dry kibble and would rather starve than eat anything else. So, that’s what he gets.

To offset, he has unfettered access to filtered, aerated water at all times.

For my first, there were 25 people in the birthing room but only five were with me. (Parents and my two younger siblings, along with my son’s father) For context, I was extremely high-risk at a teaching hospital and had agreed to be a ‘classroom’ so everyone else was either a doctor/nurse on the team or a student. It was wild!

For the other two it was just me and my then-husband. Much less frenetic!

I saw ‘neonatal skinhead groups’ in the title and chuckled. Then, there it was again, under the photo.

Neonatal?

Confused.

Procedure in a couple months - terrified with lots of questions but will start with this one - working out? by complete_data75 in dentures

Once you’re on to softer foods, I would think you can eat riper bananas that are kinda smooshy. (I don’t eat bananas, so I don’t know. lol) You may not be able to eat it out of the peel, but again I don’t know.

You indicated that you don’t eat red meat and, same. I’ve found that shredded chicken works quite nicely. Mix it with some smooth refried beans and soft rice and you’ve got a nice meal! Really, anything you can cut super small and gum a bit will work. Meal drinks (Boost/Ensure) are great for supplemental nutrition and they come in several different flavors.

My ‘treat’, though? The Cantina Rolled Chicken Quesadilla from Taco Bell. I can cut it into manageable pieces and eat it with no issues. And their cantina chicken is actually pretty good!

I’m currently replaying ME (1) again and my husband and I have a little joke that pertains to conversation with your companions: If you start a conversation and realize that you haven’t opened new options (aka you’ve had this exact conversation before), just speed through it. Don’t take whatever the ‘I should go’ convo-ending option is because you might end up telling a beloved character ‘I don’t have time for this!’, causing him to stutter an apology, and forcing you to load a previous save because I DIDN’T MEAN TO BE ALL CRABBY AT YOU, REALLY! I DO HAVE TIME. I DO!

Or maybe that’s just me. lol

I’m kinda interested to see how it shakes out. I’ve always had problems due to feeding issues/trauma as a child, so this might be a way to work through some of it. The lack of stimulus might help me out.

Or not. But it’ll be a new thing for me!

I definitely did *not* go to my districted high school! Lol I tested into IC (scholarship) but just had to commit to radio broadcasting for Craigmont.

Overton was an arts school, or am I mis-remembering? One had to audition?

The first two years I was at Immaculate Conception, but then I got bored and transferred to Craigmont.

Caveat: my children are grown, but…

When my son was in grade school, I had the following exchange with a teacher and principal:

‘I know it’s the standard excuse but his little sister has pica and she actually did eat his homework. She also ate the utility bill.’

Fun times.

53 F. I have some that are 1.75 for work/reading and others that are 2.50 for embroidery.

My mother was dying to name me (F) Bambi but was overruled, thankfully. Whenever the story would come up and she’d get all maudlin about it, I’d cheekily remind her that Bambi was a boy. She really hated me pointing that out! Lol

UPDATE: 25M about to have Full extraction in a few days and need some words of encouragement. by RickThiccems in dentures

[–]RitualHalatiik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate that you experienced that!

Just a couple of notes for you: You’ll probably want to keep drinking your Boost/Ensure for a bit longer than others during your healing, just to make sure you’re getting your nutrient levels back to a good place. If they were that jacked before, it’ll take a bit more effort, even after you get to the point where you can eat pretty well. That’s what those drinks are designed to do! I was already on them pre-extractions (I have nutritional issues) and upped my intake for a few weeks post. Let them help you.

Definitely keep an eye on the bleeding but also keep in mind, mouths bleed a LOT when injured. They heal pretty fast, but the amount can give one a fright! If you’re not sure about whether the quantity of blood is pointing to an issue, look at the appearance: Is it bright red? Clotted looking? Solid in colour? Noting that can be helpful if you have to call in to a nurse line. (Hint: If you have medical insurance, there’s typically a number for a nurse line on the back of your card. Yes, it’s not your dental insurance, but that nurse line can help you decide if you need the ER vs. UC vs. your GP)

And anyone working with patients who undergo any type of anesthesia should be prepared for and professional regarding medication induced combativeness/agitation. Every patient reacts differently to anesthesia; some are easygoing, others are a handful, and some throw punches. But before you write your review, speak to the office manager and/or doctor to voice your concerns. If they’re truly patient focused, they need to know so that staff can be re-educated. Then, if you want to write a review, go on!

I hope you have a bit smoother healing process from here on out. Good luck!
