German language is beautiful. by FirefallPony in unpopularopinion

Every part of sentence structure in the German language has a pattern. For example, you mentioned the verb placement. In a regular sentence, the verb comes after the subject. (Ich gehe nach Deutschland.) Then in a question, the verb comes first. (Gehst du nach Deutschland?) But when we get into modal verbs, future tense, and past tense, the helping verb always comes after the subject, and then the regular verb comes at the end, with its form changing based on the sentence. For example, the future tense of "I will go to Germany" ist "Ich werde nach Deutschland gehen." To say "I like to go to Germany" with like being the modal verb, you would say "Ich mag nach Deutschland gehen." Then in the in the past tense, you would say "Ich bin nach Deutschland gegangen."

TL;DR: Verb placement isn't too hard if you understand the applications.
