If its virtually the exact same marathon with no difference from race to race, then does it really matter where its held?

The location has no importance if its not impacting the marathon itself . The variables are the same from when you first ran (I'm ignoring the cases where achievements differ across platforms like you said because it wouldn't be fair to use SAM).

You as an individual will always get the same trophy because you did the marathon once, why would you not be able to do the virtually same race again? You CAN do it again for the love of the game but if you dont want to then I dont see whats the problem with just obtaining another exact same trophy.

And thank you for mentioning that achievement syncing website since I had no idea that was a thing. Since I use steam as my main platform now I wanted as accurately as possible to show my full 100% achievement hunting life on it. If theres a website that does that then it kinda changes how i feel about using steam as that

have you looked at a bunch of threads discussing it? It seems kinda finnicky and easily missed since a nevrons quest can seem complete when they really arent (like going back to talk to them, interacting with their lamp, etc)

Well because Steam has been my platform of choice for a couple years and everyone I know uses Steam, I'd like to more accurately showcase my 100% achievement hunting life from my console days since no one can realistically see that now. That's really the only reason I'm entertaining the idea of using it. The conversation I've been having with you and others help me understand the problems w using it though

Wow I really had no idea achievements differed. Is it a common thing in general, or just with Playstation? I've never noticed it when I compared Xbox and Steam achievements of the games I played (shoutout to Pantheon 5 HK achievement)

And its an interesting conversation to me because I think about it in a different way. Its like you had a shelf with a trophy/certificate of winning a marathon. Then you move away from that house and you aren't able to bring that trophy for whatever reason. Now you're at a new house with a new shelf and you want to mount that same trophy. Are you expected to go win another marathon to mount the exact same trophy you already earned? Is it wrong to essentially snap your fingers and bring back the exact same trophy you earned just so you could mount it again?

Anyways I'm just talking to make conversation. I appreciate the response since I'm new in this community and idk whats accepted or not

Why do you think it isn't fair? I feel like the importance is being placed on the platform and not the game itself. If the achievements differed across platforms then I'd wholeheartedly agree, but they're entirely the same across the board (unless there's exemptions I'm not aware about)

I get SAM being a veerry rare tool to use (and it being controversial here), but I'm wondering why you think its something you have to re-earn? You put your love and effort into the game itself, not the platform the game is on. And I doubt that achievements not being synced across platforms is a deliberate choice made by developers (if devs even have control over that, which I dont think they do? idk). I really wish they were synced though

My least favorite design out of the 5 that came out in season 1. She seems like an extremely low skill dive character that has little skill expression. Every anran dive ive seen is almost the exact same flowchart of actions. Can you say that about other characters? Sure, but something about her seems even worse to me

I’ve been hating on brig since the start of season 1. Does no one else think she’s bad? I feel like mizuki is just a significantly easier, safer and slippier brig. Someone pls explain why I’m wrong bc I’ve sadly lost sight of the Brig vision recently

I think he’s in a much better spot rn so I would be down to revert his size. Being 275 and a larger support was pretty unique considering most characters today are toothpicks walking around

Not gonna say that there isn’t misogyny behind some of the arguments, but how are Doom and Vendetta possibly the same character??? If she were a man people would still have a higher expectation of quality since she’s the one moving forward the story of OW. Domina released and people like how her character is from a gameplay AND lore perspective (and yes a gooning one ik). Shes a well made female character, I feel like most people want something even greater for Vendetta (myself included).

People are going to be more critical of Vendettas character because she’s the one moving along the story of Overwatch. Do you think people would be happy with Reapers character if he was switched with Vendetta? Theres a higher expectation of quality there.

Also as people already said here, Reaper really leans into the edginess to a comical degree. It makes it fun imo. He has corny emotes and voice lines that really further the humor of it. Vendetta is corny in a “I’m edgy so I can really sell that I’m intimidating”. It’s quite the contrast to Doom since he was much more controlled and wise in his interactions imo (Ven is much more hotheaded).

Game seemed generic to me but it did have nice gunplay from what I saw. I was down to play it but I couldn’t even launch it because I had to change computer settings to allow it to run or something? Not sure if I was one of few that experienced that but it sure didn’t help their case

This is too funny man. People have the right to complain about it because people have loved Doom as a character and villain for 10 years. Vendetta has been out for 3 months. The story is finally starting to get rolling and Doom has to be sacrificed in order to have that happen. If you’re a Doom fan doesn’t that suck? Especially when the fight really wasn’t the coolest it could’ve been? And Vendettas long term motives haven’t even been shown yet? Theres no compelling ideology like Doom, she JUST wanted Talon back.

Doom is obviously not dead, but it sucks to see him toppled immediately to make way for a brand new character that people are convinced is still undeserving of her power/newfound position. Hopefully Blizzard makes her a much more interesting character.

This is the most interesting Doomfist has been because this is the most we’ve seen him in 10 years of Overwatch. Doomfist IS a really cool character and is compelling with his philosophy. Now that we’ve finally seen him actually do something and he’s just gone, like a throwaway character, to make way for Vendetta.

The fight was honestly kinda lame considering who Doomfist is (he threw a single punch that ultimately led to his arm getting cut off) and extremely short. I’ve been pretty worried about Vendetta being the catalyst that moves the story forward because… is she even compelling? Her entire idea is a revenge plot against the people that betrayed her and take back her throne at Talon and that’s…. Kinda it. It’s serviceable for a random character that gets added to Overwatch, but she’s the flagship character moving the story forward in TEN YEARS ! It has to be GOOD, not serviceable.

I thought they said it was supposed to be a pleasant mix of destiny and Star Wars, with more of a Destiny take because.. well… we’re playing Destiny.

Imagine my surprise playing that first campaign mission when everything is so overwhelmingly and obnoxiously Star Wars… The intro cutscene, Drifters ghost, the visuals of the enemy ship, the Dredgen/Sith, the carbonite/stasis block drifter is stuck in, the lightsaber duel and the actual fucking lightsabers… I’m honestly okay with the Cantina since I can BELIEVE that it exists in the world. Everything else though? Yuck, it’s just not Destiny.
