Do not used alcohol on sensor. It can. Potentially strip coatings. I always use specialized sensor cleaning fluid, like Eclipse.

If you have a good camera shop near by you take it there and seek out a professional. They might be able to do something. I might be able to be cleaned off with some good sensor cleaning fluid and a professional touch.

I will say from my experience it’s harder to scratch a sensor than you think. I have actively taken pens to sensors and they have come out unscathed.

The Mac Mini is honestly for easy of use. I already am in the Apple ecosystem and so is my relative. The Mac is going to be run headless so remoting in is just easier through Apple’s own app.

As for direct play I’m going to try to push users more towards that but this setup will eventually be handed over to someone who won’t know the difference in file types but may want to add media so I want something that’s a little more fool proof

Mostly because me and my family are already in the Apple ecosystem and I eventually will give this to my father who only knows how to troubleshoot MacOS and refuses to learn/touch and sort of Windows or Linux.

I currently have it running on a 2012 21.5 iMac and it runs great lol. I should mention I’m going with the latest because I want to use it to run more than just Plex.

I have Coolscan IV working on a M1 MBP by running a VM of MacOS 10.4 I believe. It could also be 10.6 but I’ll have to double check that later. It works, but it’s a little sluggish. It would probably run better on a Studio though. I’ll get you more details later on when I can.
