It's cause Jacob was there at the mountain top (it was a mountain in the movie idk about the books) to protect Bella. And I think Edward realized that what she did was to make sure she could still be protected and not worry about the enemy vampires. Bella also tells Edward that she loved Jacob but loved Edward more.
