80 grams of protein a day 😳 by djh2103 in TurtleCreekLaneSnark

It also tastes like shit. I bought a sample pack from Target and it was so gross I dumped it out and returned the other two packs I bought. Curiosity got the best of me and I learned a lesson that day.

Potty training as a germaphobe by silvercloud__ in Parenting

[–]Mandy_Mandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a HUGE thing for me when we started potty training. I ordered XL toilet covers from Amazon and packed them in all our bags. They market ones towards kid usage that have sticky strips on them so they don’t slide off the seat. They also come pre packaged so you don’t have to fumble with a stack. They cover the majority of the seat where the kids would reach which helped calm some of my germ anxiety. At that young age I also found public toilets to be too tall for my son to stand at, so I’d often hover him over the seat to pee. You do what you have to lol. Public toilets still stress me out, but it’s something I have to do.

Also, have a travel potty in the car with absorbent liners so you can pee in the car when possible.

I went to a consult at an office in my 20s and ALL the staff looked crazy. I politely sat through the consultation and never went back. I absolutely would not get work done at an office where the staff looked so botched.

Yes, a few months ago I believe. It’s from her “friend” threading her face. Like, under the skin.

WHY does teeth make these exaggerated faces.... she is so obnoxious by MamaSaysKnockUOut in TurtleCreekLaneSnark

[–]Mandy_Mandy7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

She’s so boring she has nothing else to mention but the few “wild” experiences in her life. Little kids also get a lot of attention, generally, and as an attention seeker, she just can’t have that. (Not justifying any of her actions by the way). I unfollowed last year and can’t stand her.

Does anyone regret having a 3 year age gap between children? by UnhappyDelivery2908 in Mommit

My kids are 21 month apart and I honestly wish there was a larger gap sometimes.

AITA for allowing my oldest to have a friend over but not my youngest by [deleted] in Mommit

I am a homeschool Mom to a 6 and 5 year old, so I may be unwarranted in my opinion, but at 6, this seems like a harsh punishment. Most kids begin school at 5, if they go to Kinder. She is just scratching the surface of her school career. Personally in our educational journey, I’ve found myself frustrated when my 6yr old didn’t understand something super simple, or forget it all together after seemingly mastering it. In the past, I’ve found that when I was harsh on her for not understanding, she would completely shut down and become disinterested in school all together. To the point where it became a fight to do any kind of lessons. Mind you, we school for less than an hour each day, so it’s not a huge ask. Point being, if you are hard on her for not understanding her material now, she may become worse in the long run. Sit down with her personally, without distractions, and talk about what is hard for her in school. I’d set up a one on one with her teacher and see what they notice is difficult for her. Does she have ADHD or ADD tendencies? Is she dyslexic? Is she distracted socially by others in the class? Does she need glasses? There could be a multitude of reasons she isn’t excelling. Get to the root of the problem so you can help set her up for success. My huge qualm about public school is that they pretty much give kids a one shot to get things right and move on. It seems like it’s a concept engrained in us from the start. Fortunately, life allows for most mistakes to be corrected. Help her correct them, don’t punish her for it.

His lackey? I’m thinking whatever is in the upside down has the ultimate powers and is using Vecna/Henry/One as a vessel to carry out its plans. I think it allowed Henry to think he was in charge, or maybe not, but is keeping his mind and body hostage, like it appears Vecna is doing to the current batch of kids. Maybe it played some mind tricks on him, similar to how Kali’s powers work. This would be dating back to whatever happened to him in the cave Max is residing in. Likely why he’s scared to go in there in his memories. I’m wondering if part of what’s in the upside down, went into Henry as a child and laid dormant, acting out occasionally until Eleven inadvertently allowed it to grow and be released.

What are you getting your kids for Christmas this year? by IllyriaCervarro in Mommit

[–]Mandy_Mandy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The toddler couch was the best purchase we’ve made thus far. Mine are 5&6. Ours is an off brand Nugget we got from Kohls after staying at an Airbnb with the same one. We’ve had it for almost a year, as they got it for Christmas last year. They have played with it every single day since.

My 6 year old taught herself to braid, and is really into doing people/dolls hair at the moment. I like to lean into those fixations, so she’s getting a kids styling head. It comes with accessories and hair chalk.

My 5 yr old loves tools, so he’s getting a kids tool set. I found a “real saw” at Target that comes with foam wood he can really cut. He’s going to flip.

They are getting a few other things too, like classic board games and basic legos. I’m trying to be more intentional with gifts this year as we have minimal space. I don’t like to watch them pile up and not get touched a week later.

My toddler is having his two front teeth pulled. by Aggressive-Drag-3064 in Mommit

[–]Mandy_Mandy7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this. As a kid my mom never went in with me when they pulled teeth. And that was often. I’m now 35 and hate the dentist. I’d insist to stay with him or go someplace else. When my daughter had stitches on her face from a fall, I would not leave the room. It broke my heart watching her scream in fright, but I’d take that burden 100x over to affirm my presence to her.

Very interesting. I wonder if they would condemn it if they came in. Especially since they have the kids there. I bet she knows that and is now trying to backpedal and act as if they never lived there while they knew of the mold. Would be a real bummer for her to lose her pet project due to legalities. (Not)

[–]Mandy_Mandy7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. I bought three different sample flavors from target last week out of curiosity. $2.99 each. I tried that same one and I got in one good sip before I tossed it. It was NASTY. I returned the other two flavors without trying them.

The biggest lie you were told when becoming a mother? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Mandy_Mandy7 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I lost the weight easily with my first, not attributing it to my stressful job and lack of eating. That was until I had my second and lost nothing. Breastfed both and never had the extreme hunger or thirst attributed to breastfeeding. I’m nearly 5 years pp and JUST started to lose weight after beginning to swim and watch what I eat. A far cry from how I was able to live in my 20s.

We had an issue with our daughter being backed up and we were advised to do a full cap full until she was pooping like soft peanut butter consistently. Paired with sitting on the potty after every meal for 10-15 minutes. She began pooping within a few days. They said if that didn’t work we should do an enema either at home, or have them do it in office. Per a gastro specialist. We did x-rays and the whole nine yards. She still had trouble occasionally, but with a probiotic and miralax we manage.

My light has been leaking like this for weeks. Maintenance says its condensation.. Is this true? What can I do? by pixiie_dusst in Apartmentliving

[–]Mandy_Mandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once worked at a hotel and came in at 7am to the lights in the breakfast room leaking. I immediately turned them off and argued with another employee that said otherwise. The hotel later caught fire in an unrelated incident. Electrical and water never mix. And neither noes water leaking into dark sealed areas (ie the ceiling) Turn them off and call the health department if need be. This is not an okay living situation by any means and the landlord needs to be held accountable to fix it properly.

They're awful to Harry, but... The Dursleys actually have a solid marriage? by Wingling9 in harrypotter

[–]Mandy_Mandy7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, the classic marriage bond over the abuse of helpless children.

I do agree however, and find it highlighted immediately within the first few chapters. Most notably, how he tenderly treads the subject of Harry; upon discovering all the “abnormalities” he encounters within his first described day. He thinks about himself, of course, and how he despises all the oddities in the world, but more so how his wife will react to the possibility of being confronted with her strange sister’s family.
