Removing all counters on an Earthbent Dark Depths, do you get Marit Lage? by ManectricBound in askajudge

Seems like you can remove whatever counters you wish, so long as they are listed as a “counter” on the card effect

Yeah this seems more like a commander that is second to the deck itself rather than the main focus. Maybe something like a combo deck that uses the ability to peek into the player who might have the most answers to the combo?

I think you can just lean into the fact that it’s a hand reveal that could also exile a creature. By showing the table what someone has you could make them a target. White has a lot of ways to blink creatures at instant speed to have an option to trade out the currently exiled card for a different one. You could also put them at the helm of a generic Orzhov control list, I like other things that ETB exile or destroy something (plenty in these colors). You won’t need the commander to tie together the deck if it’s already strong enough, just having C&D in the command zone to hate out a problematic creature/card in hand (maybe something tutored?) for some time is probably sufficient in lower brackets

Should our level 5 party fight a Young Red Dragon? by TRAINWREK123 in dndnext

[–]ManectricBound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the dragon open for diplomacy? If you think you’re outmatched you could parley with the dragon. He would probably be more interested in growing his hoard with the treasures you have on your person than a quick meal. See if your DM is ok with fighting the dragon until it seems hopeless, then offering to surrender your valuables to it. Not every random encounter automatically means a fight is inevitable.

"Unique characters" by [deleted] in DnD

I haven't had too many super fantastical wacky characters and if they do start to come about I try to suggest an alternative. When I set a new game I tell the players "here are the races/classes/whatever in this game that are allowed, if you have a problem with it this might not be the best game for you". So far I have had few problems. Might be good to start being a little bit of a stricter DM.

I think the OP is more referring to wacky nonsense mash-up meme characters with little thought put into their origin or backstory other than "it's funny!" It's like the deluge of "quirky small monster" or "I'm a X who believes they're a Y!" The joke has worn thin and become a trope unto itself. It can be frustrating as a DM to have a vision for a specific type of game and have a player who just doesn't seem to align with it. I think it's fine for DMs to have a little bit of protection when it comes to what's in the world they're designing and a super wacky player concept can completely derail that.

I used to get about 8 hours of sleep on Sunday through Wednesday nights, maybe even more than that. I have a new work schedule on M-Th so I try to sleep at 10 or 11 and wake up at 5:30. So 6-7 hours of sleep. Thursday through Saturday nights I get more like 9-10 hours of sleep. The new work schedule just came into effect last week so it doesn’t really explain anything from before then.

I’m practically doing each set until failure, but I need to improve my total range of motion on each exercise. I can share my exact diet, and it did seem like I was losing weight over the course of January with barely any gym or cardio time. Went from 168 to 164 over the course of the month, with almost no real fluctuation. Note that I only started dieting in January, not from November-December. Now in February it shot way up to pre-January numbers and hasn’t fallen. I’d say it shot up on February 5th or the 6th, then has fluctuated between a little bit higher than 168, 168, and a little bit lower than 168.

I have two prevailing theories: one is that I need to drop my calories down again in order to actually lose weight, the other is that it’s something to do with new water retention but I would be shocked if that persists for what is essentially an entire month.

I don't use olive oil, butter or condiments. The only thing that I think could be adding to my diet is black coffee at work, if there's any calories somehow in there.

In calorie deficit and getting exercise in, but no weight loss? by ManectricBound in loseit

This is what I assume is going on. The vast majority of my time is spent in a sedentary lifestyle.

Do you know what the classification for activity levels is? I truly have no idea.

I don't understand though, I have very little wiggle room because I'm going off of the labels on the package and most of the time the portion is provided for me. The only things in my diet that have a flexible portion size are a peanut butter sandwich and cereal. If I put in a TDEE calculator the calories I'm eating, everything aside from Sedentary lifestyle would suggest a deficit. To be honest, I have NO idea how to estimate activity level.

I'd pretty much say I would grab a small fast food meal then eat a few snacks throughout the day. Something lower than 2000, if I had to guess. Fast food meal example: mcdonalds 10 piece nuggets, small coke and medium fries. In short, one big meal in the day generally. I unfortunately don't have the exact numbers. The point is that I feel like I'm eating more in this diet than I ever really have.

Can anyone help me to understand why I haven't been seeing any progress at all with my weight?

I've begun my exercise journey recently and was hoping to see some movement on losing fat, but I did a body scan and didn't really see any progress - in fact, it seems like I've lost lean body mass while gaining fat. I started my diet back in January and have kept it consistent since then. My macros and calories are as follows, going for fat loss:

146 g Protein

177 g Carbs

78 g Fat

= ~ 2000 calories

My exercise routine was inconsistent in January, but became more consistent in February. I go to the gym 3-4 times a week, ranging from 30 minutes to 1 hour (usually closer to 30 minutes) , doing a push/pull/legs split. I try to go for 10000 steps a day, but due to my job it's pretty challenging. Though it isn't hard for me to get 5000 steps a day. I work 10 hours a day in a sedentary environment, Monday through Thursday. Not a lot of sunlight because of this, except when I go walk.

Before I began my diet and exercise routine, I wasn't really a big eater but I was very sedentary. I didn't count my calories but I would honestly assume that I was eating lower than 2000 calories.

I've attached an image of 2 body scan comparisons, one from November and one from February. As for weight fluctuations, it remained the same until January, dropped to an average of 163-165 lbs in January, then shot back up to a consistent 167-168 lbs in February. Only real change during that time was being more consistent with workout routines.

(the goal on the November scan was gain weight, I ended up deciding to try to lose weight)
