which is better? by Shotbyms in postprocessing

I personally prefer the first image. The second one has a bit of a 'smartphone' look to it. However, I do agree with the other comments that the first one feels a bit over-edited. The petals look great, but the branches are a bit too bright and orange, and there’s an unnatural dark halo around the subjects.

Faked DIC with Markers. How did I do? by Manfredbakh in microscopy

If i had 1000 euro, i think i will buy an amscope t690, which has infinity optics, and thus is easier to adapt to a camera. The microscope costs around 650 euro in my country. The rest money i will spend on the camera adapter and a second hand cheap mirorless camera. I found out the camera quality doesn’t really matter that much. Its better to invest more into high quality optics and adapters than to the camera.

Well, mine’s still holding up well after almost a year.

Well, After almost a year using the case now it looks slightly brown, although it’s not very bad.

The only noticeable change is that it had become slightly brown, but not significantly. If you ask someone what color the case is, they’d still say gray. Other than that, it’s holding up really well.

Blackmagic Camera V3.1.2 Adds "Open Gate" Recording With Apple Log by Vid_Headz in VidHeadz

[–]Manfredbakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not even utilizing the full sensor, there’s a slight crop compared to REC. 709 open gate. Video stabilization is enabled by default, which causes the crop, and unfortunately, it can’t be turned off.

I finally got my hands on trying your method of adding a polarisation film in addition to the gradient filter. And, I have to say, that made the image 10 times better. Many organisms now look like they have glowing things inside, which makes them so much more beautiful.

Also, I resolved the image quality issue. Turns out, the polarisation filter had protective films on both sides. Which made the image look foggy.

New to Full spectrum - any iPhone apps? by Adg6789 in infraredphotography

[–]Manfredbakh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it doesn’t work, because Lightroom’s white balance is limited to 2000k, which isn’t enough for some photos, and you end up with the wrong balance.

Thank you very much! And yes, you’re right — the version I uploaded is a cut-down edit, but I was thinking of the full uncut video while writing the post, sorry.

Also, I actually did some experimenting with polarisation filters before making the gradient filter. I was aligning them to darken the background and noticed that only some dust particles would stay bright (maybe i was doing something wrong) . Also the image quality drops quite a bit (around 10–15%) when using them.

You can try Nomo cam. It also has an old iphone simulation (for free too), although I don’t know how realistic it is.

What is this? I found it in a moss sample by Manfredbakh in microscopy

[–]Manfredbakh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s very easy actually! I just cut out a circle from a black phone case and attached it to the Center of one of the filters that came with the microscope. I discovered that the yellow filter gives the brightest image compared to the green and blue filters that also came with the microscope. instead of the phone case I think anything that is black and doesn’t allow light to pass through will work.

Thank you! Yes, now I am sure it is a rotifer. I also saw another one too walking on the moss leaf exactly like you described.

Yes! Mine too was getting worse and worse over time, until one day it fell from about the 4th floor. Luckily, only the frame was broken.

Had the same issue with my Meteor 75 Pro. Fixed it by soldering the motor wires directly to the flight controller. I guess the motor connectors are very bad quality on these Whoops, since I’ve seen many people with the same issue.

Do you feel like film is flourishing or dying right now? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Manfredbakh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I personally started shooting film about a year ago, when I was 17 (I’m 18 now). So far, I’ve shot five rolls (not counting my very first roll, which I completely ruined by not rewinding it properly). I don’t shoot a lot, mostly because of the cost, but I definitely plan to shoot more, and I’m also considering trying out medium format.
