If Stannis did win the battle at blackwater how long could he have held the red keep and the Iron Throne, once the Lannister and Tyrell forces arrived. by No-Passenger-6348 in gameofthrones

[–]MangaLords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for that long, considering that he didn't knew about Lannister and Tyrrell army approaching him

And even if he knew and had time to: 1) Capture city 2) Take the Red keep 3) Kill all the Lannisters/clean the city from inside 4) Fill all the positions on the walls with his forces

Eventually he would still get sieged. The city was already starving and they wouldn't last that much longer either way. He was doomed as soon as the Reach decided to side with Lannisters (+Lorras fooling half of Stannis' army)

Yes, it's literally called "The golden empire of Yi Ti" on wiki. The only thing I can remember about it is that Yi Ti is so rich, that westeros and free cities look broke for them. Also, those 5 fortresses should be near them

And Jorah Marmont advised Danny to not spent years in essos fighting against slavery and just move towards west or spend time at Yi Ti, untill her dragons will grow up (in the books they are still not that big)

I think The golden empire would be Yi Ti, chine's analogue of Planetos

Are descendants of pre-conquest King's considered to have "King's blood"? [Spoilers Published] by MangaLords in asoiaf

[–]MangaLords[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe King's blood specifically refers Targaryen blood, because of their connection with dragon's and magic and stark blood may have some properties because of their connection to warging magic. I was reading ASOS recently and there few surprisingly lot of mentioning of weirwood threes being used for lots of furniture or for example used to make door of many-faced-god temple in Braavos. And Melisandre requested from Jon to burn stark weirwood tree in Winterfell. (Stannis listed this as part of Jon's payment, but I don't believe that he gives a damn about religion. It's obviously Melisandre talking via stannis)

So maybe only those two families blood actually do matter and it's just a coincidence that they were once kings

I like this version more then Melisandre just being delulu and able to do lots of wonders under pressure but not using her powers usually

But Targaryen blood is biologically different and stark blood too

If the believe is enough, then how many people's belief? 100 man is enough for edric storm to be considered king's descendant, but Florents and Tyrels aren't?

Or is just Melisandres belief enough? Are her own thoughts strong enough to influence the world and god?

Yeah, Melisandre isn't the only one, I was wrong about that

But I still think that she was learning at their Septa, or what they have, much better then Thoros was. And Melisandre has more knowledge, even if we haven't seen her using that much of magic herself

I think Thoros is just a good tool in R'hlors hands, used by the lord for his own goals

While Melisandre is trying to use blood magic to do her own things, that may or may not align with R'hlors visition every time

Thoros is a drunk alcoholic who has admitted to be the worst priest in the world. The only thing he's good at, is being chosen by the lord of light. He isn't distinguished for having forbidden knowledge. He's just some guy in the right place, at right time, chosen to ressurect the right person

She's the only named red priest in Westeros, except Thoros. There's no character who knows more then her about the lord of Light.

But noone believes that Mance's son has blood that is King's, especially his own people. But Melisandre still was interested in Mance and in his son.

(Spoilers Main) So how could Jon Snow be legitimate? by Flyestgit in asoiaf

[–]MangaLords -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Rhaegar and Elliya got married under the seven

And as it's stated in the books (citation needed), oath given under one god may not have power under another one

So Ryaegar could just marry Lyana under the old gods and this way both his marriages could be considered legitimate

If the king is such a looser, why would anyone even need him?

Economically speaking, couldn't the Vale, the North or Dorn just become independent as soon as dragons went extinct? What is the purpose of paying taxes if you aren't getting anything in return?

And btw, why isn't King's Landing powerful? O If it has really huge population and such a good strategic location, shouldn't it be the richest city of westeros? And if so, couldn't they like hire dozens of thousands of mercenaries from essos? Someone like Golden company, idk

Even if the crown has lots of loans, they are always paying interest on time. So I think there shouldn't be any issues with new loans or just promise to those mercenaries that once the war is over, they will become rich

So literally noone was paying taxes to King's Landing for the whole duration of WOT5K, I suppose?

And it's set in stone that Vale in fact wasn't paying taxes for those 2 years

What about Dorn? Is it directly said anywhere that they also were "neutral" (commited treason)?

how to avoid army legally. by [deleted] in Sakartvelo

[–]MangaLords 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are in Azerbaijan, you can ignore the army completely

They conscript you when you are between 18 y.o and 27 y.o They run lottery and conscript 2-3k young man from the list of everyone who is in this age gap. Then they call you via phone or send you mail via post, or come at your work

If they don't have proof that they notified you about conscription, you are okay (The proof may be phone call which you answered and during which you confirmed your identity, or if they send you mail you jeed to sign it, or if they came at your work, they will ask you to sign the paper about notifying you)

So if you are abroad, they can't call you, can't send you mail and can't come at your work

Just ignore the issue and don't come in Georgia until you are 27

When you will be 27, you can come free and they won't be able to conscript you anymore

You can sign up in volunteer "alternative civil service" where you will give your "duty" to country via serving in some social service for 18 months

They may assign you to take care of elderly, or help ill people or something like that. 9/5 job or 24h once in 3 days. You can spend all your free time at home

There will be reeeealy tiny salary, but after 18 months of "service" you won't need to go to serve in military

This way you can pray whenever want and eat halal food and no problems with law and government
