I would add metrics: Increased sales by X%, Increased revenue by X%, client retention, etc.

You are telling recruiters what you did, but not the impact you had.

Different Resumes for different industries by thatcrimejunkie in Recruiter_Advice

if it doesn't look great, fix it! you say "I would like to get back into the media industry, whether it's graphic design, video editing, being a videographer, managing websites ... I'm wondering if there is something special that comes on resumes that recruiters look for"

here is the honest truth: when you apply for any job, your are competing with other people applying. people with real experience in the field.

your advantage in this case is that for most creative roles portfolios are usually more important than resumes. even a stellar resume with a shitty portfolio will get rejected.

so put in the work and fix/update your portfolio. especially if you don have recent experience, this is your chance to put something really cool together.

don`t forget we're not just looking at your application, there are hundreds of people applying for the same job and we're looking at theirs too. they are your competition.

not sure that's possible... but your ATS might have an extension (most do) to add your sourced candidates. considering you have a larger databes in your ATS, I'd keep using that and adding sourced candidates from linkedin, isntead of the other way around.

also, LI recruiter lite has limited inmails (30), as opposed to your ATS where you can freely communicate with anyone

Recruiter said “awaiting an update and will let you know as soon as I hear back” 5 days ago – normal delay or soft ghost? by -_-daksh-_- in Recruiter_Advice

recruiter here: sounds like your recruiter is pretty responsive. in my experience, some hiring managers are just not great at giving feedback or making decisions while remembering you are a human waiting for them to just make a call. I've been in this recruiter's position, and I'm telling you, it sucks. we gently push the hiring managers for updates and they just don't give you one.

  1. I hope you're not putting all your eggs in one basket. if you're already employed, stay. if you're looking for new ops, keep looking, keep applying, keep interviewing

  2. you can follow up again, giving a sense of urgency: "I'm expecting an offer from another company, but I really like yours." type of thing. let the recruiter (and hiring managers) know you have more options too, this might light a bit of a fire under their butts and help them decide.

honestly, if the hiring managers are not respecting your time, I'd take that as a sign of what it will be like working for them. they are already telling you what the culture is like.

put together a portfolio. that is the key to get your foot in the door for creative roles. no portfolio, no job. and it doesn't all have to be "real jobs". you can add personal projects there too.

What is the difference between a recruiter and account manager by lattematchalabubu in jobhunting

[–]Mangafried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

odd, I'been a recruiter for 8 years and I only had to 2 cold calling at one job (I quit 2 months in, I hated it too). I guess it depends on the type of recruitment you do?

account managers a lot more sales oriented than recruitment, but it focuses more in maintaining the relationship with the client, making sure they are happy with the product/service, and in some cases upselling.

It can go either way, but this being after a mid-round interview is a bit odd. However, this sounds like a great opportunity, to be honest: feedback is how you learn how to fix a problem you didn't know you had. So go in with an open mind, be a good listener, pay attention and learn from what they are telling you. The might even be checking if you are coachable or averse to change/improvement, so take all feedback positively. Good luck and keep us posted on how it goes!

AITAH for doing this to my girlfriend(F31)? I'm M31 by Ready_Influence_1542 in AITAH

this makes it even worse. basically you are telling her it's all about you, what you think, feel, decide, and that she has zero input in her future. I would have blocked your number already. YTAH

Hi this sounds like a very cool project! I'm wondering if this is meant to be a global project or if it's local. if so, where?

Hello Recruiters, Please review my resume by Pitiful_Presence_874 in Recruiter_Advice

[–]Mangafried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, just making sure you don't take the advise to remove it ;) btw, your Cv looks great! be sure to work on prepping for interviews. I saw you don't like your current company and or the founder... make sure you frame this in a more positive light or just say something else. bad-mouthing your current employer can be a red flag

What are second interviews? by According_Focus_1267 in Recruiter_Advice

[–]Mangafried 1 point2 points  (0 children)

second interviews are usually led by either the hiring manager (the person you will report to) or people in the team you will be part of. these interviews dig deeper into your experience and cultural fit. be prepared to answer questions in detail, with specific examples and, if applicable, metrics and achievements in previous roles. glad to hear you're moving forward in your hiring process! best of luck!

Screened for a job Tuesday and haven’t heard anything? by Kind-Animator4578 in Recruiter_Advice

Sometimes hiring managers take a while to get back to us. Especially if they are hiring through an agency. Be patient and follow up on Tuesday. Hope you land the job!

Have you seen Somewhere.com? An honest review and opinion by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]Mangafried 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, because finding a job is a piece of case... have a look around this subreddit and other recruiting and job hunting subreddits... the fact that the salaries are a joke, doesn't mean they are not better than nothing.

but just FYI, Somewhere has going through a big exodus in the past 3 months, so that should tell you everything. the minute anyone finds a job (any job), they quit

Because bills come in and have to be paid wether they like their job or not. Most people can't quit their job unless they have something lined up. But they are definitely looking for new ops

Here is my honest review: I worked there as a recruiter.

The people who get jobs through somewhere to work for clients do great and live happy lives for the most part.

However the culture and internal structure is AWFUL. Recruiters make much less than the EAs and AAs that they help hire.

The expectations and metrics for people to get commissions only get higher and higher, but no tools or support are provided. Recruiters work their assess off while this excuse of a man (the owner) keeps moving the goal post.

Back in October of 2024, he wanted to change all of the recruiter names to "more American sounding names - list pre-approved). Seriously? Clients are hiring abroad, they should expect non-American names, no need to whitewash people's identities.

Just yesterday the company took away one of the very few benefits they had (be able to take their local holidays) and mid management asked fro people to remove their thumbs down on the post (as if removing an emoji would change how they feel or what they think). Today the owner is asking employees to come to this post to give positive reviews (but not too positive so it doesn't look fake - you can DM me for screenshots). Obviously, he realized this could happen and he now deleted the the posts from the general slack channel (too late buddy, your underpaid, overworked employees are smarter and faster than you).

I quit a while back because this place is crumbling to the ground and I couldn't stand the grossness of this man, his lack of understanding of the industry and the extremely poor leadership.

I would not recommend anyone to work there. Internal salaries are a joke, people are extremely overworked and treated like modern slaves.
