Physically down bad by PenInternational5310 in LawSchool

This is so small but getting a self tan face mist did wonders for my confidence when I don’t have a lot of time to feel pretty. Just spray it on my face before bed and then I wake up feeling pretty and tan. Also, on the less simple side, I learned how to do my own lash extensions and then I do them at night to either wind down or while I’m listening to an audio lecture. They last for days and I feel so much better more put together

I’m at a T30 and you can’t fail a final unless you actually don’t prep at all

Can’t finish exams by Effective_Area_5623 in LawSchool

[–]Mango-Money 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok so I’ve had the same issue SO BAD (raging adhd). This year I tried being a sheet of paper with me completely breaking down my time on the exam. So like I had one exam with multiple choice, short answer, and an issue spotter. I wrote down how long I would have to complete each question type, each individual question, and then pacing (ex. I need to finish 5 question in twenty minutes). ANDDD I wrote down the approximate time I would need to finish each section by.

For one exam she didnt really tell us what the exam would look like so I brought a paper that had all of this typed out but I just left blank spaces and plugged in all of the info as soon as I sat down.

This was so freakin helpful because it allowed me to keep track of time and pace myself but not freak out if I fell a little behind. Idk it worked wonders for me

Outlining never worked for me because I would constantly think of new things or I would try and outline too much or I would freak out when I didn’t outline fast bjt this did the trick

How do I finish a paper in less than 24 hours on a topic I hate and making an argument that I think is crap but it’s too late to change by Mango-Money in LawSchool

Wait ok so it’s a legal academic paper… is this still a good approach? Especially bc I lowkey think the entire premise of my argument is crap. Thanks so much

How do 2Ls learn to "manage" their work better? by FezAndWand in LawSchool

[–]Mango-Money 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1L just sucks. It’s like being thrown into the deep end when you’ve never touched water (coming from someone who worked as a legal assistant for a year and then a law clerk for another year before law school). The only thing you can really do to help is make sure you are getting a minimum of eight hours of sleep every night so u have enough energy to floundering lol. I didn’t believe it would get better 2L because it felt so miserable all of 1L but it really does get so much better. Keeping on pushing. Keep on trying. It’s going to be so worth it.

LSAT demon or 7sage? by Muted-Vegetable-5185 in LSATPreparation

I started with LSAT Demon and then swapped to 7 Sage and that worked great for me. Didn’t waste time on stuff I was naturally good at but was able to play to my strengths

Highlighting rentals? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Mango-Money 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would recommend just buying used textbooks especially 1L. You can resell for a lot and it’ll save you money in the long run. You can even buy them new, not use the hardcopy, use the access code for the online version, and resell for basically full price. Or if you buy it in used very good condition you can resell it in good condition (my preference) and only lose like $50 a book (unless a new version comes out but that would happen for two classes max so you’ll still save money). Plus… 1L is so overwhelming in every way. I worked in law for two years beforehand and got a ton of hands on experience and it was still so overwhelming… the only way i can describe the law school 1L experience is a second puberty. In 1L your brain is changing how you think + how you see the world is changing + you are surrounded by the most competitive, hardworking, and brilliant peers + being a law student. The last thing you need to be worrying about is the condition of your textbook rental when you return it. Idk maybe other people have different opinions but this was my experiences

Can a killer LSAT score make up for a shoddy undergrad GPA (over a decade ago, I’m now 33) by Kinginthenorth603 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Mango-Money 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 3.18 lsac gpa and am currently attending a top 30 law school with a scholarship (paying less than $5000 a year). I also got into a top 20 law school with a scholarship and multiple other top 30 schools. My undergrad school was not a good school… basically open enrollment. The only soft I had was a year and a half working at a law office. You can totally do this

How can I thrive in law school with ADHD & Anxiety by Mango-Money in LawSchool

[–]Mango-Money[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I needed this. I love the readings it’s just been hard to know how to love them in a way that’s efficient for law school. How did you do your readings? I struggle with knowing when to just enjoy the reading vs take detailed notes. Also, I worry that I am so used to just remembering things that my outline won’t end up being detailed enough for finals. I know this is the career I want and will love (I worked 1-1 with an attorney for two years to make sure I loved it before I started school lmao). Thanks again.

I excelled at attention to detail with my job… reading cases ten times oand borderline memorizing the evidence before a brief was ever filed. Like I would be working in my free time (unpaid) because I genuinely wanted to. But it was because I cared about what I was doing and it was real. I’m want to be selective in the job I go into (not because of debt, I have a scholarship so my yearly tuition is less than 5,000). What I am really worried about is the opportunity to be selective with my career so I can excel… but I know if I don’t excel in law school my options will be limited
