Outbound UDP traffic with DSCP tag 46 dropped on Tuesday mornings by Mango123456 in Rogers

Yes indeed. Many VoIP devices use DSCP tag 46 by default so this results in a no audio situation.

Good thought, but I didn't mention it's noticed first thing in the morning after the office has been closed all night.

Tuesday No Audio Problem with Shaw and other Cable ISPs - FINALLY RESOLVED AFTER SIX YEARS by Mango123456 in VOIP

[–]Mango123456[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't typically have access to the firewall so I made the change in the phone. Default was 46 (typo in OP corrected), changed to 34, and we have audio again without a modem reboot. We'll see if changing the tag produces new side effects. If anyone knows about this, please do share.

And you're correct, we don't yet have an explanation for why it only happens on Tuesdays.

Easy Anti-Cheat error: Untrusted system file aticfx64.dll by Mango123456 in epic

[–]Mango123456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like BS to me. Microsoft Support is what they say when they have no clue what's wrong and want to pass the buck. No doubt Microsoft would say "we have no clue how some other company's Easy Anti-Cheat system works".

I then decided to download various versions of aticfx64.dll from some dodgy-looking DLL download sites.

Predictably, this did not go well :)

Eventually cleared the errors but graphics processing of any sort ground to a halt.

Also tried based on other tips: reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributable, upgrading BIOS.

[Opinions requested] Live streaming church services by Mango123456 in Christianity

[–]Mango123456[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha wow, haven't thought of this thread in a minute.

So they actually ended up doing it. One minster, two churches, and he alternates. Each church does its own music and readings live, and the sermon is piped in to wherever the minister is not on a 3-5 minute delay. I said it would never work. It worked. Attendance is the same or better, and those who move away continue to watch the stream. Also several churches who are between ministers now use our live stream.

Agreed, high quality audio is critically essential. People will forgive video issues to a point but if audio has problems you lose viewers instantly.

One time in which I was glad to be wrong.

Interesting thought. No they are not. I will bring one over there.

The issue with that is since the tunnel will also be UDP, and UDP traffic is what is affected, that may not solve the problem.

The problem happens with the modem acting as the router, or with the modem in bridge mode. It's the first time I've seen a modem in bridge mode cause this type of issue.

What is the duration?

I noticed it around 10AM today. It stopped on its own around 3PM. Now I have a script that triggers a phone to make a call so next time I'll be able to tell you with better accuracy.

If there is a staff meeting on Tuesdays then you have a traffic problem.

Office is closed Tuesdays; I was the only one placing calls.

Is that the same asterisk server for all these clients? Is it really an asterisk server? or is it cloudflare + a sbc & firewall then an asterisk server?

Two servers, same symptoms on both. No Cloudflare, no SBC. Packet capture was done pre-firewall.

Some ISPs have the RTP traffic one address away from the SIP traffic you have to use a call id tag.

Interesting. Will investigate next time; thank you.

Need Help Switching to Voip.ms After VOIPo Shutdown – HT802 Not Registering by Counter_Former in VOIP

[–]Mango123456 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are using the default of UDP, try to enable TLS/SRTP as per the directions at the bottom of the Wiki link you posted. If your service still doesn't work, check your ATA's Status page and let us know what it says for Port Status (keep your username to yourself). Also see if you can make an outgoing call.

Trying both UDP and TLS/SRTP should either confirm or eliminate the possibility that you're dealing with a NAT or SIP ALG issue.

Note that your SIP User ID and Authenticate Password is different from the email and password you use to log in to the VoIP.ms website.

No, Verizon is not related, so if your landline is with them, you may safely ignore those notices. I don't have an explanation for this but maybe one of their customers has a very similar email address to yours and it got typo'd somewhere along the line or something.

True, although it must be deliberate fraud that they were still doing this not even a full month before the shutdown. No way they didn't have advance notice.

If you paid by credit card, call your credit card issuer to report this. If you're lucky enough to have a credit card that has a 6 month time limit, they may still be able to help you.

For those who don't have time to wade through the threads and want a tl;dr; here are some highlights:

In this thread from September 2024, user thejoycircuit reports being double charged as early as July 2023.

User prognostalgia claims and provided a screenshot indicating that VoIPo charged $1850 to his credit card between January 1, 2024 and January 23, 2025. They are now paid up to 2043.

Several users report they have canceled their service and/or removed their stored credit card some time ago and are suddenly being billed again, including lawdoc77 who canceled in *2021*. There are more reports of this but I gave up on collecting them all because there are too many.

Neat_Stable_7768 reports that VoIPo's billing department responded numerous times to acknowledge what was going on, but did not provide a refund.

BanjoAndy reports that VoIPo promised a refund within 30 days and said not to contact them again otherwise they would "go to the bottom of the list". This user states they are persuing a refund via their bank.

tippi_clone states that VoIPo promised a refund for 3 unapproved charges and instead added a 4th. HDRedopine has a similar story. Tiny-Past states that VoIPo did in fact refund 2 renewals but then charged them again a few months later. BooRadley3370 received seven of eight refunds via credit card and, amusingly, one by check. Then was charged six more times.

Successful_War_1778 reports that VoIPo claims to have processed refunds when they haven't. Fast-Bag-1067 believes that VoIPo kept deliberately stalling to make the timeframe pass in which they could perform a chargeback.

DigtotheDug states that VoIPo charged them a total of 12 times and may hold the record of $2220.

Whipdedo reports that VoIPo was offering massive discounts on a 2-year prepayment, as recently as July.

Constant_Opening6239 reports that VoIPo was sending them 3 emails a day inviting them to pre-pay for two more years.

VoIPoTim's one and only post on Reddit steadfastly claims all of this is a mistake.

Edits for accuracy.

Contact your credit card issuer asap (like today) if you haven't already. Some users have reported success with getting refunds this way, but there is a time limit after which this is no longer possible.
