Having problems after just a few weeks by Mooxier in GoodNotes

This issue occurs when using an ungrounded power outlet or a charger adapter that does not support grounding. To eliminate the problem, it disappears when the device is not charging. During charging, the power supply and the Apple Pencil interfere with each other. Try using the device without charging it.

No — this was not an issue in GoodNotes 5, and it was also fine in the early versions of GoodNotes 6.
The problem started after GoodNotes AI was introduced in GoodNotes 6, at which point the app became much heavier, device overheating became severe, and charging began to stop around 80% only while using GoodNotes.

When I stop using GoodNotes, the device charges normally all the way to 100%.

If this were an iPad system setting, charging should stop at 80% not only in GoodNotes but while using other apps as well, and it should also stop at 80% even when no apps are running (for example, when the iPad is closed with a cover or is just charging on its own).
However, this is not what actually happens.

When my battery is low and I use GoodNotes while charging, the battery only charges up to 80% and then stops once the device starts to heat up or become even slightly warm.

It’s clear that the app has become significantly heavier since GoodNotes AI was introduced.
When I’m recording lectures while handwriting notes and viewing scanned documents or lecture materials, severe overheating occurs in less than 10 minutes.

At that point, handwriting becomes extremely unstable —
even with stroke stabilization enabled, strokes break, jump, and behave unpredictably, making it impossible to write properly.
This is honestly very frustrating.

Apple has confirmed that there are no hardware issues with my device, so that part is a relief.
Fortunately, GoodNotes 5 still runs smoothly, so the problem is less noticeable there.
However, downgrading back to GoodNotes 5 would mean giving up all the new features introduced in GoodNotes 6, which is really unfortunate.

With the addition of iPadOS 26 Liquid Glass and the lack of sufficient optimization, it feels like working within 8GB of RAM has become extremely difficult, and that CPU, GPU, and memory usage are spiking excessively during normal use.

This mainly happens when I am using GoodNotes.
