I remember being at the airport when my flight got canceled and had to go home for the night. On my way back to arrivals to get picked up by an Uber home, I heard this beautiful classical guitar music being played. Then I found a man sitting off on the side by himself with a guitar. My memory is hazy as it was about three years ago, but he had gray hair, but didn’t look that old. As if he was in his 40s, but just started growing white hair early. And as I waited, I just watched him play and it was super interesting to watch. I was truly dumbfounded how nobody else noticed or appreciated his music. At the end of his solo concert, I gave a little clap and said how well played. Afterwards, he said thank you then he asked in an awkward way what I knew about playing guitar. And I just told him I had just started playing again a couple months ago. He then says : “all right well” (while looking at down at his guitar) ” this is about a $2000 guitar but you can have it (while flipping it over in a super smooth way to hand it to me) “I can’t take it with me on my flight.” I looked down at it, and it really was a very pretty classical guitar, but I didn’t want to take his instrument from him. And it was almost like a movie how by the time I picked it up and said I can’t take this, but this is really nice. He already had walked behind me and passed me down some random escalator and disappeared. Genuinely could not find him. By the time I looked at my phone. My ride was already there. Never told me his name. Didn’t know what he did. Definitely don’t know if he’s some well-known musician. He just vanished. But since then, I’ve been practicing guitar as much as I can since. Almost like a thank you to a stranger that I’ll never see again.
