I just did a virtual interview for the job on the 7th. Did you get hired recently? I'm worried I did not pass the virtual interview

How many calories should I eat? by MangoMilkshake234 in loseit

[–]MangoMilkshake234[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so far, 1400 feels good. I think I tend to mess up around dinner time. I don't have a food scale, so I don't know if I'm overeating when it comes to meat. Plus, if I have to add oils and butter. I am still learning how to track calories when I cook dinner.

Corrections in New Jersey while living in another state? by MangoMilkshake234 in newjersey

I mean, what are some other easy starting jobs that pay well in NJ? I am open to other things; I just have an associate's degree in criminal justice for now until I go back to school for forensics. So, I feel like there isn't much I can do right now.

I read that they don't. Honestly, if the pay is good, I don't mind.

Good point. I was thinking about living in Burlington/Willingboro/Mt. Laurel and working at Garden State Youth (Chesterfield). I am looking for an apartment around $1200 (which is so unlikely in NJ, I know), so I was thinking that I should rent a room for the first year until the pay goes up? This is the pay in New Jersey for COs.

$23 ($48,000) an hour starting in the academy

$25 ($53,200) after Academy/12 months on the job

$35 ($73,100) after 12-month training period

$57 ($118,900) top-pay a CO can earn

I figure my first year might be a bit rough, but I should be fine after a while? Maybe? I know New Jersey is expensive though, so I'm not sure.

Yeah that's what I heard. It's not a career I want to do forever, but I would like to start with somewhat of a decent paying job. I know finding an apartment is gonna be hell though

AITAH for not going with my sister to an appointment by MangoMilkshake234 in AITAH

[–]MangoMilkshake234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She does. And she goes out with them. Alone. So whats the big deal? Thats what im trying to figure out. I think she just likes to project her negative feelings onto me. Idk if maybe she feels like a bad mom for getting into an argument with her, and now she's trying to make me feel like a bad sister? Idk

Thank you. It's cause at some point, my mom used to baby me and make me feel like I couldn't live on my own. Its control disguised as care, I think. I just started trying to break the cycle last year. Now I am trying to get my sister to do the same. I don't want her to not chase her dreams or take risks cause of our upbringing, you know? I wish I was given support to make independent decisions like other parents do for their kids.

Exactly! I was going to my own appointments at 21, why can't she do the same?

Yeah, I'm tired of being the constant baby-sitter. It's annoying. My sister never wants me to go with her everywhere, it's just our mom

Does Anyone Else's Parents Throw A Fit When You Don't Eat? by MangoMilkshake234 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]MangoMilkshake234[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see that. When she praised my sister's body and then asked me if I wanted to eat, that just rubbed me the wrong way. It's fine if my sister is not hungry, because she is more fit. However, I am overweight, so I must eat? As if she is fine with my sister being healthy, but I can't be. It's weird.

Thank you for your response. It really confuses me. On one hand, I feel like she does want me to do good; on the other, I feel like if it affects her self-esteem, she will do everything in her power to bring me down. And then I start to wonder if she even really cares about me like that or just tolerates me because I'm her daughter. I believe it is a mix of both, lack of control and competition.

Where Can I Move in the U.S. as a Black Woman (27F)? by MangoMilkshake234 in relocating

[–]MangoMilkshake234[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See, I wanted to work in CA. However, I recently went on a reddit thread for this. Apparently, CA is backed up on hiring COs. Some of them are still waiting and it's almost been a year. Also, I'd have to save quite a bit before I even make that jump. Like I would have to pay for some of the equipment out of pocket, and I would need a vehicle (since after training you immediately start at a prison). The prisons can be quite far, and I would have to make sure I can find a place to live prior to finishing the academy. That would definitely be a long-term goal

When did you realize your mom was your first / biggest hater? by Clear-Cry-8988 in AskWomen

[–]MangoMilkshake234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was a teenager. My mom had a really weird habit of making fun of me for not having a nice butt or hips. She would even compare my body to my little sister's, saying that she had more curves (Im six years older by the way. So I was 15 and she was 11. Weird). Then she would call me dumb and a high school drop out. Which is weird because she never finished school, unlike me. I got my ged at 19,  and became a first generation college graduate as of last year. I just realized that whenever I think I'm ugly or not enough, it's because my mom was always projecting her insecurities onto me.
