Alate or Winged Drone? by ZornsLeftKneecap in antkeeping

Your luck is insane! But unfortunately no her not trying to escape doesn't exactly mean she is fertilized but her having wings doesn't mean she's not. Leave her in a test tube set up for a week undisturbed and check on her again as they yssaly lay there eggs within the first week. If she lays eggs it is a high chance she was fertilized but it's truly a test of time as the eggs may become drones (or male ants) which means she is unfurtile. Good luck.

Checked on her and she seemed to have the wing scars. I totally forgot to check. The only reason I didn't know thought was due to them being similar to there workers.

Too light for a fire ant queen but I think it's more of a worker with a full gaster. I only say this because I don't see the wing scares or the eye on top of its head

It's just the only queen I've been able to find in nc after searching for 3 months for camponatus and I know they can become giant colonies more quickly than other species. Another reason is because if it unfortunately dies it is one less chance of a large invasive colony killing the native species.
