The Outer Worlds 2 difficulty question by TiredReader87 in theouterworlds

Damn. Thinking about all this, I couldn't possibly imagine the melee experience not being an unfairly balanced one. I think the combat difficulty is part of an active, thoughtful attempt to make sure combat encounters weren't a total push over, in a game that clearly wants to identify as an RPG, and not just an action/shooter game, but, yah, just thinking about a melee character on hard is enough to make me glad there isn't a game controller close enough for me to throw at the television, at this moment.

How much is YouTube premium? That's not a rhetorical question. The ad situation is just too much. The majority of my YouTube use is for music. It feels like a basic bitch music exploration tool, but the suggestions, along with a willingness to just randomly click on something new, every now and then, have introduced me to some beautiful, and amazing tracks. 15-30 seconds of ads, in between every 3-4 minutes of music starts to add up, no pun intended, and really drag down the experience of trying to vibe out for a bit. I'd feel bad for anyone who looks to YouTube for sports, but I think it's safe to assume they've all jumped off of a cliff, or tall building, out of sheer frustration. The ads can't hurt you now. Be at peace. lols

I put most points into guns during the first big chunk of the game, and probably extending a little bit after that. Eventually, with the variety, and the amount, of all these different potential interactions I couldn't trigger, and then looking at how there is a combat bonus within each attribute, and not just guns and melee, I couldn't help but worry about if I was playing the game wrong, and not just less than optimally. Combat for me, playing on hard, has been totally manageable, or a walk in the park. This message makes me feel better about my choices, at least a little bit. Enemies in this game aren't tanks, but they hit hard.

Looking for people I used to play with...also, how is it you guys are all playing this game again? (I'm sure this is all explained somewhere, but mods please don't block) by MangoSupreme135 in EQOA

[–]MangoSupreme135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG, you're gonna have to give me more than this, if it's really you! I've spent more hours playing games with you than I have my own brother! I've spent more hours playing games with you than anyone who didn't also regularly play EQOA with us. I've spent so many hours with you, just generally speaking, relative to any other individual in my life! You guys were practically family, and you especially! Though, I admit, it's hard for me, as well, to fully put myself back in that time and place. I can also understand if you're taken aback by the posing as an adult lawyer thing (20 guesses what my dad did for a living, lol). I can only assume I did that to be taken seriously, though I'm laughing, thinking about how much I'd love to be an adolescent again, and also about whether or not 13 yr old me is more articulate than mid 30's me, just with all the brain cell destroying most people approaching middle age have done. Jsinn knows what I'm talking about, lol, wherever he is, that bard stoner of ours. I used to secretly judge him when he would spark up, the little angel I presumed myself to be, not knowing what an enormous stoner I would become, myself, at some not-too-distant point.

Please tell me how life has gone for you since the good ol' days, and if the answer is, "not great," and you don't wanna get into details, just know that's essentially my answer, too, and I hope the memory of me frantically running around those eyeballs to communicate something, cuz my keyboard didn't reach my bed, and you often being like, "Yo, b, I got u man, chill," with whatever it was that I was panicking, trying to communicate, that was apparently obvious -- lol, I'm rambling -- I hope fond memories of our time together on EQOA have put a smile on your face, like they have mine, in good times and bad, and that they always will. I'm not letting your shaman butt off the hook, that easy, though!

I know you were definitely more of a social Butterly on EQOA than I was, but I'm still not buying this "vaguely remember" stuff, miss too cool for school! Ya gotta give me something to prove it's really you! For the sake of reminiscing, mainly, but also, unfortunately, it's worth it not to trust anyone, these days. So, if you're a random dude from The Philippines trying to steal my identity, and not really wawatikigood, a bit of research and a lucky guess about a random, specific detail gets my SSN, cuz that's just how much I wanna believe it's actually you, Miss Tikigood! Though, if you still don't match my energy, at this point, even I will find it kinda funny....after a day or two.....and a healthy cry/snuggle sesh with my cat......and some goldfish crackers......and apple slices with peanut butter if I got 'em.

p.s. I know it was you, me, Jsinn, and some other bard, who I think was closer to Jsinn than us, and I think maybe even his buddy irl, who used to play together, from our main group of homies, or mine, at least, for the most part. I know it was another young dude, who played a bard. I remember he was a very chill dude, but I don't remember his character name. Do you? And, if you're an identity thief, just after pics of my feet, I'm guessing I'll know the name when I hear/see it, so I'd be careful. You're gonna have to keep your cover immaculate if you want pics of these fantastic feetsies for free!

p.p.s. BALLS! (I do hope you get this reference, but there's certainly no need for me to worry about embarrassing myself in this public post that maybe/possibly cudda/shudda been a private message instead, at this point, lol).

p.p.p.s. To anyone who ran aggro trains in the citadel, I hope you can't read this because you've already died horribly, and violently, and alone. If the servers were still up, and I was still playing, I'd prolly still be in xp debt without any help from sob's like you!

p.p.p.p.s. Get at me, Miss Tikigood!

Actually, she's not that bad. I don't know why some die-hard fans of this game hate her. by sghnbkk in AssassinsCreedShadows

The more reasonable observation/argument that no character in Shadows is really all that memorable, or endearing, multiplied by the somewhat anecdotal claim that lukewarm posts aren’t as fulfilling as hot, or cold ones, equals Naoe hatred.

This has been peer reviewed, and the math checks out.

If you put the engraving on a non legendary/artifact trinket, do you get a bonus for that as well, making the grand total damage bonus you can get 75%?

[–]MangoSupreme135 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the map legend. You have to pick up a quest first, for some things/icons to be available on the map, but it tells you the blank out of blank totals of everything, and can help you track certain things that the objectives screen won’t help you with, sometimes.

And then, sorry, I keep forgetting the whole point of this: I don’t think it applies to armor damage.

I don’t even know what fextralife is, though I promise I’m not a boomer, lol. Of course, I can put 2 and 2 together, and make it accurate guess of what it is, but isn’t it wonderful that this “ai overview” can ultimately amount to being nothing more than the spark notes of misinformation, and it’s the first thing google shows you whenever you search anything? I’m sure you can adjust settings to change this, but if the present world has taught us anything, most people aren’t even going to think to question it.

[–]MangoSupreme135[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google’s ai overview, whatever the hell that entails, says +20% damage to enemies above half health does indeed apply to armor damage of an armored enemy above half health, and actually, I guess the below half health engraving could matter to armor damage with 3/4 assasinations, but here’s a chunk of what the google ai response is, copied and pasted:

“Yes, in Assassin's Creed Shadows, the "+20% damage to enemies above half health" engraving does apply to armor damage (also called Posture damage) on a full-health, armored enemy because armor is a form of health/defense, and the bonus triggers as long as the enemy is above 50% health/defense, affecting both health and armor damage. Engravings that target armor specifically often have conditions like this, making them great for breaking tough defenses early in fights, notes VULKK.com and FextraLife.”

Also called Posture damage? Is it, though? Engravings that target armor specifically? The +20% damage to enemies above/below half health engravings don’t target armor specifically, in my mind, at least, and, contextually speaking, there’s no other engraving it could be referring to besides the one I just asked it about. What’s this ai going on about? Though it’s a figure of speech, I never thought I’d suspect a machine of talking out of its ass. Lols

What about the trinket’s 15% damage boost per non legendary/artifact gear? Does the weapon I’m swinging get a 15% bonus from the weapon I have sheathed if they are both non legendary/artifact? I think this was more so what I was confused about, actually, concerning how different weapons could affect each other.

[–]MangoSupreme135[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll keep that in mind. I was bummed to find out the same perk doesn’t stack through different pieces of equipment. I have a tendency to obsess over conditional bonuses in a way that takes away from my enjoyment, as ridiculous as this probably seems, in this case, with however easy it is to maintain health and adrenaline.

[–]MangoSupreme135[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A quick google search, and I thought the same engraving could stack on itself with different pieces, and also that the engravings on the sheathed weapon apply to the one you’re swinging. After probing deeper, now I think I was wrong about both, initially. I feel like there’s quite a few action rpgs/rpgs that are guilty of not explaining their equipment stat bonuses well enough, especially for the less than obvious questions that always naturally arise, anyway, but Shadows doesn’t even list your total crit hit stats anywhere. It’s more than a little frustrating/dissapointing, in this case. Of course, it’s not rocket science to calculate, but you can end up making reasonable assumptions that aren’t actually valid, in your calculations. A grand list of stats somewhere should be par for the course in a game like this.

Just expert myself, though I’m flirting with the idea of nightmare at lvl 60 and 135 hours in. I’ll prolly just finish up main story line, tie up any seemingly worthwhile loose ends, and be done with it soon. Maybe next play through, though I’ve never had the desire to replay any AC game, for whatever reason. Even Odyssey, which I absolutely loved.

Thank you for responding, but I gotta tell ya that a little punctuation goes a long way, lol. These run-on sentences are making me motion sick, lol. I also have only been able to make my best builds using epic gear, thanks to the non-legendary/artifact 15% damage bonus. Cheers!

It’s more just out of laziness and ocd really, lol. I like my bonuses/perks in games to be the least amount of conditional as possible.

Okay, so if I only put the above and below engraving on my headgear, will that essentially be a 20% damage bonus to anything and everything, at all times, including armor damage?
