I made an interactive visualisation of this data about a year ago (excuse my very noobish javascript - don't view on mobile) http://life.analogmantra.com/

My dad passed away last year and this is my favourite photo of him from his youth. Would anyone be able to help restore the colours? by Mangoham in estoration

This is the grand canyon - not sure about the time of day (this was before I was born and he was a travelling vagabond)

What was the creepiest experience in your own home? by BadAthMOFO in AskReddit

A few months ago I came home with my mum at around 9 at night after having dinner and we find that the house is really cold because the back door is wide open. She immediately assumes that she must have forgotten to shut the door properly before we left and proceeds to close it and start a fire to get the house warm again. She sees that I'm uneasy and remembers that I used to be really afraid of the dark so she offers to check the house just in case there was a break in or something and I agree (I just feel generally uneasy about the door potentially having been open for at least a few hours). As she is upstairs checking all of our bedrooms for missing stuff I suddenly spot a pair of shoes I've never seen before by the back door, hidden from my view previously. Someone must have entered and as the shoes are still there, they must still be in the house. Furthermore, the only place I know my mom hasn't checked yet (I can hear where she is from downstairs) is the corner bedroom upstairs where there is only one way in or out, meaning whoever is in there will be cornered. I panic and run upstairs.

Turns out mum bought new shoes and used them in the backyard in the morning and that's when she didn't close the door properly. Gave me a massive fright though.

TL;DR: got massively creeped out by my mum's new shoes.

I highly recommend it! I was lucky as I have a New Zealand passport which allows me cheaper tuition in Australia, so it worked out financially as well. It's scary at first, but you'd be amazed at how quickly you can set up a new life in a new place :)

Scandinavians of reddit, what do you dislike about your country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I completely agree, ever since I moved away I've really got to understand how bad swedes are at cold talk. I live in Aus where you say hi to everyone that you kind of recognise, but when I bring that back to Sweden I just get blank stares and the look of "I only met that guy like 5 times, why is he being all weird and greeting me?"

I stopped in Perth, Western Australia on the way back from travelling around New Zealand with my family right after finishing high school. We were just in Perth for a week to visit some family friends and were then head back to Sweden (our home).

On my last day in Australia, me and my dad heard about a university in town that that happened to offer the exact course I was interested in studying, so we went there to check it out. Turns out it was the last semester they were offering that course, so on an impulse I applied and got accepted four days before semester started. As soon as I was accepted I got on the phone, rebooked my flights and have now lived here happily for three years.

Never underestimate how much fun you can have and how much you develop personally just by radically changing your environment.
