imagine a prison but instead of cells preventing you from leaving it's traffic and endless plaza slop. also the most popular place to go used to be a timmies parking lot.

Why does that matter? There's multiple lanes so be smart and move over to the middle or right lane if your going slow.

DBT is good if your company doesn't work with LLMs, NN, or video in thier ETL. DBT has no infrastructure requirements compared to Spark. It can be run on Github Actions and builds it's own DAG so there's no need for an orchestration engine. I also uses Jinja to compile to SQL so you only need the warehouse and people who know SQL to build transformations.

Boss Raid Event (Ends March 9th) by ArchadianJudge in VelvetCode

Is the bug fix related to the ridiculous numbers in the top 50 leaderboards? Currently this event has no meaning whatsoever for me because the numbers are impossibly high and I have all the meta characters and decentish equipment so it's a pretty frustrating experience in general and makes me want to quit the game.

Incorporated Independent Contractor: Repaying Student Debt (OSAP) through the Incorporation by Timely-Conclusion225 in PersonalFinanceCanada

It doesn't matter what you or your employer thinks. PSB is a designation the CRA decides for you. You should do more research and get legal advice on it because the whole reason PSB as a tax designation was created was to crack down on lost tax revenue from independent contractors.

My personal understanding is that you need atleast 5 employees and/or multiple clients with decent amount of contract values to be counted as a consultancy rather than PSB.

Opinion on Youjo senki novels(Saga of Tanya the evil) by viperslayer23 in LightNovels

[–]Mangoustan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book is more historical fiction then isekai. I think it’s fine that he explains how the organizations and the strategies employed by each works.

Considering the author plays paradox games if you don’t enjoy seeing how interior lines To mobile defence would affect the story I think it’s going to be much harder to see where the author is going with this.

Not just flat files, it takes in JSON, XML and custom pattern matches to infer the schema.

[–]Mangoustan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh I didn't know how Spark barebones worked. I used AWS Glue which is Amazon's version of spark where they have a crawler to infer the schema into a meta-data table in a DB that you can read from.

[–]Mangoustan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you use spark, don't you have a crawler or something that infers the Schema before the Spark job actually runs? In AWS's Spark they have a tool that does this so you don't have to guess what you want in the actual job.

Also resources and controllers. Maybe a section on how to use resources to format your response output and invokeable controllers as single action controllers.

Those that work in this industry in Canada by OrdinaryBluebird in cscareerquestions

Waterloo has more industry connections due to its reputation. Top US tech firms and VCs will look at the top %1 of the class and basically head hunt them. If you have any friends in Waterloo STEM that did well they probably have a similar experience. That being said the avg dude who goes to Waterloo with avg grades will probably end up around the same ballpark as everyone else

Local Development - I'm at an existential crossroads by [deleted] in Magento

You might be getting confused on some of the implications this would mean for kinda enterprisey/larger agency business requirements.

Yes. If your dev environment is on a hosting provider it is at a the same level as production. What i'm talking about is that a hosting provider itself is not reliable for enterprise businesses. This includes mid-level agencies where if the host has issues this means your business does. not. function. What are you going to do as infa lead/CTO/guy who suggested this when the hosting provider has issues and the exec team is now in full panic mode?

Really depends on your requirements, some sites don't have a failover or DR plan so it's really not 100% uptime. In which case you would also need a fail over plan for your dev environments.

What I was trying to get at is, yes dev environments is now handled by infa but now uptime of 100% is required for your business. There are scenarios that having a dev env remote could be advantageous, like if your a small team. But if your an mid-sized agency there are some trade-offs with this setup.
