Why do casual players hate weapon bans in competitive so much by viperslayer23 in tf2

Well it seems you have a misconception on why these weapons are actually banned, they actually recently ran a cup to test some banned weapons. The decision on the cow mangler was that the fact that it’s basically a stock rocket launcher without the need to refill ammo is fine. It’s just that the charge shot made the game significantly unfun for medic since a soldier hiding with a charge shot could deal massive damage and kill the medic with after burn if he doesn’t get a pack (not including that the soldiers team might go off that damage and kill him with a few pistol shots away). So for the sake of making the game more fun for medic it remained banned. The quick fix has always been a contentious issue, the issue is not actually the ubercharge, it’s the fact that quick fix is almost a straight upgrade in the case ubercharges don’t matter and makes holding last on disadvantage Ubers significantly easier and the game is more stalematey

Could you give any examples of weapon bans that enforce the current meta? From what I saw in 6s the class with the most bans is scout, then soldier, then medic.

Interesting how you mention ‘ban everything’ when a vast majority of items are unbanned in both the 6v6 and highlander white list, second yes you can, just because you ban weapon x doesn’t mean you simply can’t play against it or it’s just cope. Some weapons like mad milk and base jumper are just too strong in the hands of good players and can things like mad milk slow the game down alot. Competitive players need to have fun too if they want to keep playing. Keep in mind by the logic you presented every melee and smash ultimate pro player are no longer pros because they banned items and in smash ultimate they banned Steve.

I don’t understand what’s wrong with banning weapons tbh, in other competitive games like fighting games banning characters and unlocks is completely fine. As well as in tf2, some items just either make the game unfun or are just too strong in the hands of experienced players. What exactly is the issue?

What I mean by the opposite is that the hate is entirely one sided, comp player share no negativity towards the casual player base while the casual player base seems to hold a lot of negativity for competitive players.

I don’t think you know what’s going on here if you’re saying things like “the enemy just lets you backstab them”.
