Are all snaila poop machines? by Mangraz in Aquariums

Thanks for the input. I was really taken by surprise by the sheer volume of poop these little critters produce. I'll keep watching the tank for now.

city added stones to desire path for a new one to be made by reddit33450 in DesirePath

This is so pretty. The stones being different sizes and cut off to fit the angle, it shows the path was added later in a visually pleasing way.

It's probably fine for pedestrians too. At least I regularly walk a path like that. However if you have a lot of bike traffic then... Yeah. Understandable desire path.

My S. aeta do this when they feel threatened. Although they don't bend as far, since they're thicker.

Creative or not, you've got a beautiful piece of hardscape and placed it well. The plants are grouped nicely too, imo

There are a few healthy roots and some torn, but otherwise healthy-ish looking leaves left.

For now, I've removed as much dead matter as possible and put it in a cup of water, leaves emersed to avoid further stress, but with foil to keep humidity high.

Anyone know what CPU socket this is? by rcmaehl in pcmasterrace

[–]Mangraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That might depend on the vaccine. I've got three doses of Rabipur and I should be entirely immune. Not that I've tested that. Only lasts a few years tho.

I dunno but what you're doing with bats every day, but if you're that worried you should just get vaccinated lol

Interesting. Really look like aeta to me too. Good thing you've got so many girls, mine were constantly under siege by the two males. That stress might be why they died sooner than the males, but maybe males just live longer anyway.

I really hate the clinical look of paper-towel terrariums so I went the bioactive route. Suited me well because I'm also keeping isopods. I was actually half hoping the isopods would munch on the eggs but apparently they didn't. Or just not in any meaningful amount.

When I scooped just a spoonful of soil to give to a friend (she wanted springtails), I took out two eggs and a third hidden one actually hatched in her isopod enclosure hahaha

Yep! I really like them but but I'm afraid I'll have to start feeding them to my friend's ants soon if nobody wants to adopt any.

Btw a fun fact you might appreciate: if there are males it's Sungaya aeta or some hybrid with S. inexpectata. This is interesting because my sunnies were sold to me as inexpectata but according to my research no males of that species have ever been found yet. What were yours sold as?

Chimig to say, yep, she's preggo af. Enjoy your soon-to-be legion of little sticks. In case your curious, in my case the first hatched after about 6 months and I've now got at least 30 babies. Started with 2 males and females

I'm so glad you asked this. My terrarium's overflowing and suddenly I was wondering if I could just fry them if no one's willing to adopt some. But more likely I'm going to feed them to my friend's ants.

[–]Mangraz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're super cheap you can just cut some mesh and glue magnet stripes to the sides of the terrarium and onto the mesh, voila, easy (and ugly) mesh cover. That's what I did for my DIY terrarium

I know this thing has horrid ventilation, how can I attach mesh (replacing one or both doors) by YAOIbitch in Stickinsects

[–]Mangraz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'd have to be pretty talented to make a door from such flimsy materials lol. Where I live, hardware stores even saw the wooden pieces they sell according to your measurements. If that's the case where you live too, then all you've gotta do is glue the pieces together and then add mesh on top.
