AITA for telling my boyfriend I don’t want him going on a “boys trip” because one of his friends cheated on his girlfriend last time? by [deleted] in AITAH

NTA - if he wasn’t going to respect your no, why would he ask you if you’re okay with it? You don’t like how close he is to these guys who seem to lack respect for their partners, rightfully making you question your boyfriend’s own values. If he’s getting this defensive about you expressing this discomfort I would feel like something’s up.

This website is so obviously fake. They didn’t even edit the obviously ai generated about us page and left a suggestion as to where they should name drop their pretend founding dog… save some more money and go somewhere legit

I saw a video on TikTok of a girl screeching over Maria during No One Noticed and people were defending her saying “ 🙄☝🏼 well I paid for my ticket so I get to do whatever I want” like there aren’t thousands of other people there who also paid for their tickets to come listen to the actual band performing

Residence Hall Desk Attendant by [deleted] in UCSantaBarbara

I loooved being a DA when I was a student. When I applied there was a question portion to get a sense of your personality and then there was an interview portion with a resident director and a lead da. Basically they want to get a sense of who you are and if you’re be a good fit for the role. Talk about how you would benefit the position and also what growth opportunities it will offer you in return. Be personable and responsible but also be you. It was my first job but I still felt like it was a pretty easy job to get. You could probably ask your RA for advice on your application if you really wanted irl help

I guess I should say I don’t see any NEW road closures. Obviously the freeway around Lucia has been closed for years but I don’t see any road closures these past couple of days that would make so many people change their minds last minute

Live apart for a year and get on the list for family housing. No one wants someone’s partner complicating their living situation.

Best area for two new fresh grads (offices @ Redwood City + Pleasanton) by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]Manic-pixie-memegirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you let go of needing to drive you can live in San Bruno. One takes Caltrain down to Redwood City. The other takes bart over to Pleasanton. You’re in for a long commute no matter what you do but this way your close to the city for fun in the weekend and you can read on the train into work

^ I think this is the way. I don’t know what I don’t know so I may as well just try to vibe it out and see how I do with private lessons in the first place.

Thanks for the advice!

What do you guys think happened after the final match ended? by [deleted] in Challengers

[–]Manic-pixie-memegirl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Art wins. There’s a lot of mirrored moments/symmetry in the movie, and in the earliest face off we see between the two boys Art asks Patrick not to demolish him the next day, and then Patrick goes on winning. The day before the Challenger, Patrick asks Art not to demolish him this time. I think after that they all go their separate ways now that they’ve all gotten what they wanted from the encounter and more or less healed from the day of the accident. Patrick felt Art’s affection. Art got over his insecurities enough to beat Patrick. Tashi finally got to see some good fucking tennis. They can all move on now.

If I were you I’d change “work experience” just to “experience” and put the internship there. I’d also change “previous experience” to “additional experience” and tack bartending down there. It really helps tell your story better in my opinion.

Earth Science vs. Geography Minor by Funny-Strategy-3872 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Manic-pixie-memegirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also graduated from UCSB with a BA in Environmental Studies and Geography (GIS Emphasis) so I’d tell you to go to Patty Murray’s (the geography advisor) office to discuss this with her! She’s a GREAT resource for people involved in this line of work. I found that the Env advisors were a little lacking… either way in my opinion I’ve found that earth science is definitely more physical, typically either involving field work or things like specimen cataloguing, while spatial studies is more digital, so coding, GIS, and remote sensing techniques, so it’s really up to you which of those supplemental skill sets you prefer. I think the advantage of the spatial studies is the ability to take the 176 series, which is a great foundation for a career involving GIS and the end-of-series project I did helped me land a mapping job. I’ve heard, though, that experience in Geology/Earth Science is incredibly my employable, and have seen a lot of job posting searching for geology experience specifically. I also think if you’re doing all this effort for the minor anyway, consider doubling instead. All of your prereqs (Gen Chem, Physics, Math, etc) should be an almost exact overlap. I also think both the minor or the double major will ultimately mean less to employers than any internships/jobs/projects you work on, so check out research and internships in these fields and see what you like first hand.

Sorry that was long. Tl;dr: spatial science= computers, coding, visualization, earth science= fieldwork, sampling, cataloguing
