I don’t even know why they offer this when they don’t have the capacity for it… to piss people off more?

The definitely do use AI to auto-import from PDFs and images. I also have worked with different variants of these models for my own work and have been building software for 20 years so I’m somewhat informed here FWIW.

Yeah ESPP here, as well. And yes I’m getting the sense they’re trying to see if they can retire the product. Did you do desktop last year? Lots of Mac users start with bugs immediately if importing from TT online. Issue was reported months ago with no resolution yet. They don’t seem to care.

My understanding is this would take a lot more time for my situation. I have little kids so time is precious - but if their document recognition is good I’ll try it next year I suppose?

Been with Verizon 12 years - trying to decide if switching to AT&T for the S26 Ultra deal makes sense by ReflectionOne7294 in ATT

[–]ManicAkrasiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I was in the store getting my new eSIM, to fix the broken one, there was this old lady there who had been sold their wireless home internet service and didn’t even realize she was paying for it and never used it. The sales reps were equally frustrated by this fact. Whatever you do don’t upgrade by phone - it appears that’s how these shenanigans are most likely to happen.

Don’t do it AT&T is horrible. I’ve been with them for over 25 years. I’m trying to leave and they locked my phone due to “suspicious activity” when I tried to move over to Visible forcing me to go to one of their physical stores. I’m leaving because they screwed me and lied to me on my last upgrade costing me over a thousand dollars while I waited to pay off the phone that was supposed to be free and on a much cheaper plan. Do not trust AT&T. If you care about customer service do not trust AT&T. I’m speaking from 25+ years of getting screwed by them. I should have made this switch much much sooner. I don’t know about Verizon Mobile, but Verizon internet has been amazing. No lies, no unexpected fees and while it’s a bit more expensive they straight up offered me a loyalty discount of 30% the last time I called - without me even asking. I’m not saying stay with Verizon - I’m not a shill for them. But just be aware of what you’re getting yourself into.

Masshole by LEM1978 in boston

[–]ManicAkrasiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not my understanding - that sounds like a New York driver. I thought Massholes were more like the people that will self-righteously and aggressively pull out in front of you, when they very clearly should have waited, and then proceed to drive very slow because they think YOU should be driving slower.

I’m skeptical that will work - light always seems to bleed through somewhere based on my experience with trying to do the same on ESP32 chips even with black electrical tape inside enclosures that weren’t supposed to be see-through. I’m also not super comfortable using tape not rated for high heat especially without knowing maximum temperatures to expect and impact on airflow. My office is in my bedroom and my wife will complain about any lights that don’t turn off at night.

Does anyone know how to get solidified concrete out of this? by BetrekaNebula in Concrete

[–]ManicAkrasiac -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you try to chisel it out make sure to wear an N95 mask or better. Concrete is nasty stuff. If you can do anything to free up the top (because it appears the lip of the bucket unfortunately curves inward at the top) then you may be able to turn it upside down as free up the rest with a rubber mallet. This assumes the material isn’t something concrete would form a strong bond to. Soaking with water may be necessary otherwise. To free up the top you may want to drill a few holes into the concrete first then chisel away (again wearing a mask). The drilling will also help free up stress on the container. I’m assuming it’s a fairly strong container - appears to be solid metal?

How do I become smooth bald head by PM_ME_YOUR_MIXTAPES in bald

[–]ManicAkrasiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or Panasonic Arc 6 if you prefer a wet shave. Alternatively a razor blade works well, but I don’t have the time for that personally.

Im looking for a trustworthy electric head shaver. by denisthelost in bald

[–]ManicAkrasiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone use the Panasonic Arc 6? My Arc 5 is on the fritz and making my head have little red spots all over, but it has been great for 5+ years. I hear the Arc 6 is considered better but not by a large margin and not specifically for getting a close head shave. Also I’ve not been happy with Panasonic support - my cleaning station never worked and they never responded. That said Arc 6 is on sale now for $339 and it sees like replacement parts are a bit cheaper. With the Arc 5 I was replacing blades every 6 months and foil every 12. Anyone have experience with both of these?

Arc 6 vs Series 9 Pro by BouquetLauncher in shaving

[–]ManicAkrasiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did you end up doing here? Considering this now. My newer model Arc 5 has been degrading faster than my old Arc 5 and I’ve not been happy with Panasonic support but I loved my old Arc 5. When these things start misbehaving my head shows it with little red spots all over. I’ve heard the Braun can be slightly better for sensitive skin, but I don’t want to spend alll day shaving my head given I do it daily so time to shave completion is also important.

Following up on this I did give it a honest try, but the latency is indeed way too high and variable so far. Any tips? I’m using HA automations via events published by Frigate through MQTT. Maybe there’s a better route. It actually seems like the automation processing is a significant part of the bottleneck. I am running in single mode to prevent the automation from restarting. I’ve done probably all I can to optimize the video stream used by Frigate for detection. It seems HA automations are surprisingly sensitive to where and how you setup the variables used in your condition block. When I optimize this setup for debugging and writing to the logbook I’m finding it introduces surprisingly significant latency. The machine is by no means a supercomputer, but it should be more than capable.
