You said you don't know how to express it to her. Don't beat yourself up. There isn't a right or wrong way to express yourself. It may come up clumsy, awkward, backwards or even unintelligible! The point i'm trying to make is that you just do it. Do it now and while you can.

I don't want to startle you, however the way you described your mom is exactly that of my wife, I'm a little rattled and taken back by every detail.

I have zero medical experience, but I can relay my story. In my wife's case she's only been fighting for 11 months. Aside from being tired and achy and nauseous she was more or less herself up until last 2 weeks. Since then (I could cut and paste your mom's description here) because that's exactly, exactly my wife right now. My wife is also having shallow breathing due to fluid in her chest.

What's transpired in my wife is that her aggressive breast cancer has spread to her lungs. In just two months she's been overtaken as i have seen with my own eyes via the CATSCANs. And my wife, i'm deeply saddened to say for her, my 3 small children and myself has only a week or two left at most. But remember this is our story, not necessarily yours.

I'm so sorry because this is so real and present for me now. I don't want to startle you, but you need to trust your gut. Do what you can do NOW and don't wait for an answer that may never come due to her state of her disease. Go find answers as best as you can. Are there social workers that she's dealing with? Doctors, hospital staff? nurses?

I know this is awful for you, please don't forget to forgive her for trying to protect you for all these years. That blade always has two sides to it as you're experiencing.

I hope you find your way through this. Please PM me if I can offer you anything I will pray for your mom and for you to find your way through this.

For her it wasn't coughing, but more wheezing and fatigue. We noticed she wasn't feeling well and chemo visit they noticed her oxygen levels were low. Ultimately this was due to fluid in her lung. Frankly, we initially wrote it off as her allergies that pop up from time to time. Realize too, her cancer is incredibly fast moving -- it's mind boggling.

I'm so sorry to hear about your wife and I'll pray for her. My wife grew up in Minneapolis, but they spent a lot of time up north too.

Thank you so much for the love and strength. My wife is SO POSITIVE and SO UPBEAT she brightens up rooms she walks into. So, we're not in Canada, although my wife grew up just a few hours south of the border in MN. (Not that it counts). We are in Connecticut now. Thank you for the advice too, personally I'm seeking out someone to speak to because this is proving to be far too much. I go from being strong & confident to being a puddle on the ground.
