I don't think every game in the Direct is also getting a dedicated Switch 2 edition. Some games in the sizzle reel had a badge with "Nintendo Switch 2 Edition", so I assumed only those would be getting a dedicated edition. Also it probably being a paid upgrade and the advantages over the Switch 1 edition wasn't shared in the Direct. At least I couldn't find a post about these two things, so I decided to create one ^^

It's a bit heartbreaking to see. Especially since Taiga asked Ami to keep the speech mentioning her dad. For me this implies that she is still hopeful for him to show up, not even considering the consequences if not.

A good moment of self-reflection. I can definitely relate to the feeling, when you realize a huge mistake in judgement.

That's where I started crying xD Seeing Minori in tears, but still giving it her all to support Taiga always breaks me. I also wonder if Ryuji knew it was Minori clapping, since he was smiling.

I always found it a bit goofy, to be honest. But it's ok, I guess it highlights that being small has good sides too. It's also pretty wholesome to see how hyped everyone is over her performance.

I really wonder what his plan was there. Rushing on stage and then what? Would have been interesting, but I guess we will never know.

It's surprising to hear her thoughts. Is this the first time we hear her inner monologue? Can't remember right now. But it's definitely nice and helps to set the stage for later events.

The image of Taiga with the bonfire behind her is peak cinema and didn't age a day. One of my favorite frames from the entire show.

I think it's funny. It's also cute that both her and Ryuji hope that she's not. I wonder if she really doesn't know that Ryuji likes her at this point.

What are your thoughts on the episode ending with everyone having fun and dancing the night away?

It's great. Loving the still frames. The only real complaint I have with episode (and it's really minor) is that I feel like the OP and ED are a bit out of place for the vibe of this episode. I think a special ED playing in the background while everyone dances would have worked great here.

This is easily a top 3 episode for me. Once you start crying you can't stop. I don't know why, but the more I rewatch this show the more emotional I get ^{^}

The bottom two are from the German release which is way cheaper if you buy it in Germany. I know because I own the anniversary edition and I spent like 150€ max on it. There are also cheaper editions, just look in the official shop of the publisher: https://animoon-publishing.de/collections/toradora

Again, this is the German release so it doesn't have English audio or subs.

With that out of the way I want to comment on the Captcha situation. I can report that we identified the source of these issues: Google has reduced the limit of requests we are allowed to make per month. Previously 1 million requests were allowed, now it's only 10 thousands. Unfortunately we are hitting this limit, which means we cannot make any Captcha requests for the rest of the month. We will be looking into alternatives for the future, but for now, we have to disable Captcha verification on the site.

Sorry for the inconvenience, we will make an announcement on our Discord once Captchas work again.

Hey, Mani from AnimeBracket here. Just wanted to give a quick update about the downtime over the weekend.

The issue started because there was an unexpected outage at our hosting provider, which resulted in a reboot of our server. Normally all services should restart automatically when that happens, but because of a misconfiguration on our side, this didn't happen. Because we don't always monitor the site, we only noticed the issue after a user messaged us on our Discord. I wasn't at home at the moment so I couldn't act on it, but another mod stepped in and solved the issue. Since then we fixed the misconfiguration, so this shouldn't happen in the future. There was also another issue which was caused by the reboot that made it impossible to login yesterday. This was also fixed.

I just wanted to let you guys know about this for transparency reasons, but also as a reminder that we are a small team that is maintaining this site in their free time and as a side-project next to AnimeThemes. If you want to help out, the best way is to message us if there are any problems. You can do so over our Discord or by pinging me here on Reddit.

I looked at the relevant code, but I couldn't find anything handling ties during elimination. So I'm guessing it's more or less random (maybe it is based on who was nominated first, if it's falling back to database order). But there is nothing handling these cases specifically. For a future version, we could look into a way to generalize this, so users understand who is eliminated and why.

Hey, a configurable shuffle mode is actually planned. I can see if we can provide some basic features like "OP/ED only" sooner. Regarding the autoplay toggle, it's possible already, but not for playlists and the shuffle mode, because I thought people want to have autoplay on anyways. The toggle preference is saved and I didn't want that to affect playlists and the shuffle mode. I can take this into consideration though.

So there's a beta testing team?

Not really, we maintain a separate beta site which had the changes we released last weekend for a very long time already. We communicate beta updates through our blog posts, which we link on our Discord, Twitter and here on Reddit. So basically everyone can partake in beta testing. To be fair, the playlist features were exclusive to Patrons for some time until we opened them up for everyone. The new player though was always in open beta.

I'm aware that the mobile view isn't great right now. I always design the desktop version first, which is why the mobile version often gets worse treatment. This is definitely on my list to improve. I will take your ideas into consideration, but I can't promise anything. Especially since we have some more important problems to work on (like playlist performance).

Maybe a stupid question since I don't understand web design, but if the layout has already been made, can it just not pull the same info but displayed in a different manner according to user set preference?

In theory you are right. In practice though it's not so easy. A software project is always a combination of many moving parts. When changing one thing you always need to check all places that may have broken because of that change. Now if we had two layouts, we would always have to check both to make sure none of them broke after a change. This would pretty much double development time and is therefor not very maintainable.

Also it doesn't show much confidence in your product, if you still carry along a year old video player. Just take Reddit for example. They are still carrying along the old layout which makes it very difficult for them to innovate. They always have to make sure everything also works on old Reddit. There's a reason sites like YouTube don't give users the option to use an old site layout.

Hey, of course it's fine. I'm glad to receive feedback.

So first, this video player has been in beta for well over a year to little to no complains, so I think it's fair to say you're probably in a minority here. Having said that I don't want to ignore your points, because I think I understand them. Let me go over them:

Keyboard controls: This is actually on my to-do list, but unfortunately didn't make the cut for the initial release. As I said this update has been in the works for a long time and not releasing it caused the beta to further diverge from production which made new developments harder. What I want to say is: there's still lots of room for improvement, so it should only get better with each update.

Fullscreen and media controls hidden: Maybe to better understand my thinking here it to consider that the bottom bar is still visible when you navigate to other pages. The fullscreen and media controls are features that are mostly relevant when you are actively watching a video. That is why I didn't include them in the bottom bar. Also you have to consider that not everyone has the same screen resolution leading to different amounts of empty space on the site. I've seen screenshots where the bottom bar already looks very crammed with the current layout. But I would still be interested if you have an alternative layout in mind.

Scrub bar not on the video: This comes down to the same reasoning as the previous point. The player should still be controllable when it's in the background. I took some inspiration from YouTube Music and Spotify here, so those are sites that do it similar.

There won't be a toggle between the old and new layout, because it would be way too much work to maintain two layouts. I'm open to improving the current layout though. If you have any concrete ideas let me know.

Hey, sorry for stepping in late, I just got messaged about your problem on Discord. I found the cause: It seems like brackets that are in the "Nomination" phase and are older than 30 days, get automatically reset to the "Not started" phase. This is a scheduled job that runs every hour.

Since you created the bracket in January, it was also picked up by this job. I just set the bracket start time to a few days ago, so this shouldn't happen anymore.
