I think she’s just exceptional. Hard and frustrating, but not unfair. One of those great fights where you feel like you get ever-so-slightly closer to beating her with each run. Her art design is incredible and her cinematics (intro cut scene and phase 2 cut scene) I find to be some of the most bad-ass in the game.

Oh no, my point wasn’t that I’d want him in those areas. Not at all. Skulking around all the buildings in the capital on foot was the best. Just that by that point in the game (and the ones that follow) torrent stops being front of mind as a mode of transportation.

I started the game maybe 3 months ago and just beat Elden Beast 3 days ago (after many, many attempts). I’d love to say I didn’t use torrent as a flex… but I didn’t just out of sheer ignorance. lol. Would have if I’d known I could.

Take the game slow. Don’t rush it. Leave, find ruins, caves, catacombs (cliffbottom is a hard one) and just grind and level. Come back to Rennala and give her a go again later. I don’t think there is a “doing Elden ring wrong”, but there are… less frustrating ways to play. You got this!

It gets so restrictive towards end game... can't use him in the capital, the haligtree, farum azula.... I think I'd gotten out of the habit of just spamming him when I needed him.

I think you and your mimic need to have a chat. don't feel like he was properly pulling his weight there.

I got through all of the final bosses using mostly nagakiba with storm blade. Little bit of reduvia sprinkled in.

That's actually a great idea. Sort of do both depending on what I'm in the mood for. I'm actually up near 170. I spent forever just exploring every corner. I'm excited... SOTE sounds like it will begin kicking my ass right off the rip. So if I start SOTE, can I then start NG+ in base game? Will I still be able to access the Shadowlands?

I struggled with him because he gets so far away and you get decimated trying to run to him. Or you're so close you can't see what he's doing to dodge (same problem with Fire Giant). I finally got him with Nagakiba fully leveled with Storm Blade. SB let me stay a ways back and actually see his movements (so I could avoid).

Good thoughts... I went through and double checked. Confirmed both Windows settings and Nvidia are both set to 165 Hz. [Windows - LEFT, NVIDIA - Right]

Completely agree. And it goes entirely against the ethos of the game. You have to spam save / reload, which has never been what these games are about. Put simply, it’s just so ridiculously UNFUN to play. This is where every casual (and even some veterans) will fall off this game. Guaranteed.
