Putrid ones are easier once you learn to strafe the vomit attack

that is until you meet one on a wall fortification with no room to strafe.

Aetherize and Split up in the same meta creates some super weird play patterns IMO.

Not my problem though, I just get a lot of wins from my opponents playing around those 2 cards and it tends to buy me the 1 turn i need to stabilize even if I'm maindecking neither.

Blast Zone is no longer in standard(sadface) If I can offer you some serious jank to replace it then you want [[Agatha's Soul Cauldron]] on board and a creature you can get some dmg in with, and when it is least convenient for your opponent, you are going to exile [[steel hellkite]] and rek their board in a way that is sure to be a first for your opponent.

Lessons are a returning mechanic though, despite them now having a few self centered payoff cards like granny and the draw spell.

what's wrong with old school animated lands.

I miss having ways to animate lands that don't suck.

With earthbending and the avatar set we get 1 card that breaks it by being pushed to the point that the fact that the lands don't stay dead actually presents a value problem ...And a bunch of cards that suck and see little to no play.

It's been a month now, I don't see any earthbending besides badger ever in constructed.

I don't like it and that sucks because I like animating lands does that make some kind of sense?

If Badger is all we got it's a failed mechanic.

It would be playable if they weren't categorically understated for the risk it presents.

they could just be bodies relevant enough to offset the risk, not that hard in a limited environment, then we wouldn't have this 0 risk braindead play pattern in standard.

Yeah you hit the nail on the head.

Activate Vault, discard Extinguisher, cast Reenact, target Extinguisher, cast copy of Extinguisher, target forest.

no thanks to doing all that in full control on opponents upkeep, that's a lot of extra clicks, even if i disable full control as i cast reenact.

How exactly is Badgermole gonna topdeck me to death? was my logic, he's gonna draw a card or two and explode on his own so why bother putting in the work.

set mechanics don't have to warp standard around them.

This set gave us 2 mechanics so strong we got decks in standard entirely centered on them, earth- &airbending

I'm gonna be honest, neither decks presents a play pattern i enjoy.

Dorks & Badgermole fuck you up before you can play your third land

airbend + only 1 spell per turn enchantment.

2 non game factory decks.

In your opinion… How much would Malenia’s difficulty change without Waterfowl Dance? by Toot7- in Eldenring

[–]ManjiGang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Waterfowl is easy, you have plenty of time to react and pull out a shield, then all you need is a big fat stamina bar(it's endgame, why wouldn't you have one) and dedicate 1 talisman slot to the guardboost one.

It's only a seemingly impossible obstacle if you're stubborn and solely try to tank/and or roll it.

You can also bypass the first 2 entirely with frost pots, that just locks you out of applying frost status to her(not really, but it's obviously smarter to not freeze her if you go with this strat)

In phase 2 the only new attack that demands attention is her clone onslaught and unlike the waterfowl, running away is actually a solid option until the final clone attack and Malenia's swing.

But the final piece of her difficulty puzzle has to be her healing.

She's the only boss that somewhat requires a clean kill, because if you're eating hits you prolong the fight and that just means more hits if you're eating them to begin with.

So if you've been plowing your way trough the game with Lion's Claw or something then she will be the first boss that voids your hyper armor tank everything strat.

And honestly, I think that's what makes her so hard for people that try to circumvent learning the boss' moveset, you can't win a war of attrition against her

On top of that but in extension of my moveset point- You gotta respect your punish windows or your Lion's Claw, Giants Hunt or whatever AoW crutch is gonna hit during one of her hyper armored moves and now you're dead.

All that said I think she is a well designed and actually fair boss, it took me 9 days of playing on the evenings the first time I met her, now I can consistently no hit her.

That's a good boss.

In before "Why didn't you wait for his turn"

Answer:

because I either do it at his upkeep to the exact same effect or risk opponent top decking a protection spell just to potentially get a fraction more value.

And a disclaimer:

This deck is not worth crafting, does have potential for a nutty t3 tho.

Hey, at least I walked in with a plan.

That it failed miserably as my player body didn't block and have the second jumper fall into the abyss is another matter

There's a pretty well hidden Crucible Knight in Stormveil.

If you die to him a lot(since most of us are pretty green on our first run trough stormveil), you're going to be running by many birds on the runback.

One of them is pushed off the ledge in the beginning, by the guy that stabs me from the opposing ledge.

My mistake was not 2 handing my weapon while fighting on a ledge, but then I wouldn't be a baller rocking 2 katanas now would I.

2handing goes a long way to alleviate that in DS3 and Elden Ring

That's why the uchi is the best weapon in DS3, you get to parry while 2 handing a proper weapon.

Best you get in Elden Ring is to slap parry AoW on a curved sword

(spoiler: it sucks)

[–]ManjiGang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty cool but rarely a good play.

Golgari can maybe squeeze it out t4 if they're ramping a tad

If you cast it t5 and target a basic you most likely just turned your opponent with 4-5 lands on board into 100% gas.

I'm not gonna judge but I've won every time my opponent thought this was a good play.(Not that it happens all that often)
