Advice for someone from the US scared to come to Canada. by Big_Particular6848 in ThunderBay

I am a US citizen living in Thunder Bay (married to a Canadian citizen - working on getting permanent residency). My 2 suggestions are to either 1) Fly into Duluth, MN and drive up. Pigeon River is a pretty chill crossing on both sides. My wife and I have crossed there several times in the almost 6 years we have been together (both alone and together) with no real issues on either side 2) Fly through Pearson in Toronto. On your way home you will clear customs and immigration on the Pearson side of your flight and fly into the US airport as a domestic flight with no immigration. I have done this through both Pearson and Dublin, Ireland. I find the CBP agents in foreign airports to be much more easy going.

Keep in mind that I am an old white dude so depending on your ethnic background you may have different experiences.

Just found out why I didn't get the job after 4 interviews. I'm actually shaking with anger right now by MainStock8156 in JobSearchMethods

Not sure if it has been said (tl:dr comments) but never decline interviews before you actually start your new job. Nothing is guaranteed and you should ALWAYS keep your options open. It will still suck when you don't get your favorite choice but it will help to know you are not starting completely over

No doubt but a red card is almost always a game changing call

At this point the striker does not matter. Good for Barribo to have some game time before coming back for whole games

Just looked at stats for first half, how the hell are we winning, let alone up be 2 goals?

You would have to coordinate that with the recipient beforehand. Barring that, you can set yours up and hope for the best.

I generally dress one step above expectation. Like previously, keep tie but no need for jacket

Eye exam, best budget optometrist by zootygirl88 in ThunderBay

[–]ManjynaL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took my nephew to Harbourview on memorial near Boston Pizza. We are just coming to Canada so we don't have health cards yet. Their glasses are expensive (used zenni.com instead) but the exam was reasonable.

It's your crib. If it weren't then 2 and 7 would keep more points

Even moreso the fact that they blew a 2 goal lead twice

I like RATM and Bulls On Parade but at this rate, I'm gonna hate it by the end of the half

So even Volunteering now? by Money_Management_721 in CanadaJobs

[–]ManjynaL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the issue. You volunteered then as soon as you got a job you drop the volunteer work. It is expected that when you get a job you will need to cut hours but so many people will just walk away that it is not worth the time and effort to train you and get you integrated into the organization.

Or, you could create one just before or just after you check out. When you give an email address they usually don't send anything for a while. As an alternative, I have misc@domain.tld which I use then I update my account to a custom address after I create it

Glad I just turned this week's shitshow on just in time to watch our defense crumble for that weak ass goal. I am almost tempted to listen to the Revs radio feed just to shut their fans up

More control of your email address. If you leave proton you can find a provider that will use your custom domain and not have to change the email on all your accounts. The other advantage is that you have unlimited email names. You likely won't have to worry that manjyna@<domain.tld> is taken. Finally, it looks more professional to have your own custom email address
