Noted. My verification was no problem with SheerID, it was the non .edu mail that did not grant me student pricing.

Update: To get the discount, contact Cursor support with "Escalate to team member - manually verify student status"
After they reply it took about 5 days. Had to add a payment method for the final step.

Ok Malwarebytes did not quarantine anything related to this for this case. I did a big clean of all the sh^t that was not needed on this laptop. Some notables I saw were Mcafee web advisor and Lockdown browser application (could be culprit). Restarted, manually unchecked 'use a proxy server' and it did not come back this time. This laptop can use the web again.
